My Pets

Hello, my name is Brenna and I am owned by 6 cats and a dog. My cats are  rescues but one and range in age from 14 to 1 and 1/2 years old. I just adopted a Black and Tan Coonhound mix named Phoenix. She was left at a shelter in Terre Haute, Indiana with a note explaining that her owner could no longer afford to care for her. The good people at www.cprfund.com brought her up here to Lake County Indiana and fostered her. When I saw "Fifi" on their webpage I new I had to meet her, eventhough I was originally looking for a puppy. I think it took about 30 seconds for Fifi to adopt me! She's about 2 and 1/2 years old and is a great companion. She loves being a house dog and is good with all her new cat friends. The youngest cat Tigger, who was a stray, has even made her his adopted mother!

My Philosophy

I guess I am an armchair animal adovcat. I donate whatever money I can spare to worthy animal causes and especially the HSUS and the ASPCA. People have created the pet overpopulation problem. There are so many wonderful animals just waiting to be adopted thru shelters and other humane organizations, please consider adoption. Please also consider adopting an older pet. Many times these pets are in shelters because their owners died or simply could not afford them anymore.

My Hobbies

Besides making toys and beds for small animals I raise guppies and platties and have convinced my dad that he needs a fishroom in his basement. I currently house my fish in the birdroom. My mom has had birds longer than she has had me so I feel qualified to sell nest boxes and bird supplies. I also read every book and magazine on cats and dogs that I can get ahold of. My specialty though is cat behavior. I think cats get overlooked when it comes to health and behavioral issues, so while I adore dogs, my focus of research is on cats. I'm currently working on a nonfiction book about living with cats and dogs peacefully in the house  and my dream is to one day open an animal sanctuary here in Indiana, modeled after Best Friends Sanctuary in Utah.

My Handmade Products

All of my nest boxes and catmats are handmade in the USA. Actually they are almost all made by me, but sometimes I get busy and need some extra help.

My Human Family

I am currently living with my parents. I moved back when my dad had cancer for the second time. He is a disabled veteran and two time cancer survivor. I always send our used clothes with my dad when he goes to the Veterans Hospital in Chicago to help out the homeless veterans. After spending some time as a visitor at one of Chicago's VA hospitals it really sunk in how many homeless veterans there are. These men and women fought to keep us safe and free and they deserve better. Please remember them by donating unwanted items to local AMVETS organizations or by making a donation to the DAV (disabled veterans administration). I know first hand what being in a war can do to a person emotionally and physically, its not easy on them, so if you know a veteran make sure to tell them thanks!

 A note about shipping, handling and payment.

 I try to keep shipping costs as low as possible which is difficult with recent postal increases and the price of gas lately. I am always willing to discount shipping for multiple purchases if the items can be shipped together. I prefer payment via Paypal or US Postal money orders. I am considering accpeting Bidpay in the future.

Due to the nature of my products I can't accpet returns on most them. If an item can be returned it will be stated in the auction listing.
