No one should fight cancer alone.

Breast cancer is no laughing matter. over 200,000 women and men will be diagnosed with this disease this year alone.

This year will be no different in our quest for a cure for this devastating disease but, No one should fight cancer alone.

Someone you know has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Being the most predominate cancer to women it will always be the most fought for cause but this year we will be recognizing one wonderful person that lost her battle on July 31, 2008 to liver cancer.

This first story begins with two sisters, Marla being the oldest and her little sister Brenda. Do you remember when you were little and your parents seemed so old? I know I do. Today do you think that 51 is old? My middle sister is 51 and to me she doesnt seem old at all. As Marla goes through a transition with her little sister of the young age of 51 it is heart wrenching. From the hopes of a liver transplant to the dreaded word cancer. What seemed an eterinity of sisterhood became a short moment in time. Brenda found out in early July that she had liver cancer. By the end of July her transistion was made and she is in the glitter of the stars, the wind that blows and swiftly sweeps across her sisters cheek, the beautiful shaped cloud that floats across the horizon.
As humans we are taught to not live in the flesh but in the Spirit. We all try but the fact is we are human and as humans we are selfish. The last thing we honestly want to hear is that.."They are in a better place.." or.." I know how you feel.." This is a personal vision of mine when it comes to the death (Marla prefers the word transition so we will use that now.) no matter what any one else has experienced when it comes to the transistion of a loved one "You do not know how someone else feels.." Lets all keep this in mind when we lose someone. Everyone around you that is experiencing that loss does not know how you feel nor do you know how they feel. But what we all know is that cancer is not our friend. I can not imagine what Brenda went through. The words terminal? Ending, over. How is it to live with the knowledge you know you are dying and basically have an around about date of when this transition will take place. How is it for your family?
What could it be like to have a doctor tell you that you have liver cancer and in the same paragraph use the word hospice?
What is it like to bond for 51 years with Brenda and have this disease take her away in the blink of an eye? A whirlwind of emotion and not enough time to say all the things you need to say. Not for Brenda and not for Marla.
Brenda and Marla stayed together day by day until Brenda lost her fight with this devastating disease. Her minister would come visit and one a day while she was still able to talk he asked her "Do you need anything.." Brenda said.."A prayer for my sister.."
In her last days instead of asking for her she asked for her sister. What love she has for Marla her sister.
May God carry you to His arms and may you watch down upon us all Brenda. We all need that loving breeze you can swiftly push across our cheeks. We are all blessed to have been allowed to walk this transition with you through the eyes of your sister.

With this said.. the pain does not just walk away nor the person be forgotten. I pray today to our sweet Lord for a cure for all cancer. I pray today that if you are reading this you can feel in your heart to give to fight for a cure for cancer. We have chosen the cause and it is time to fight. Brenda lost her battle but can we all fight for a cure? She is looking over us now and it is time for us to all give back. Please I pray you will bid on the charity auctions and that with all our efforts put forth that your donation will be what helps us push to find a cure. No matter how big or how small it all counts.

We ask for all the sisters in the world to help us to help find a cure. The funding for Komen helps for early detection and helps people that may not be able to afford medicines or treatments that are so needed. It helps for breast exams and so many other things.

Today we stand up and we fight together.. because.. No one should fight cancer alone.

I received this letter today and wanted to share it with everyone:

Dear painting-e-bay-pretty, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for this beautiful dedication and recognition. Marla is my best friend and I am so thankful to have gotten to know Brenda even if it was just for a little while. I have truly been blessed by this experience. I have said over and over again that Brenda was a lady til the end. She showed more grace than anyone I have ever known despite all her pain and suffering. Even in the pain she expressed humor, of all things, as well.
Marla, too, is, as in true family style, a lady. She has been there for her sister as she has been for me when I lost my mother. (She dedicated her PEP nutcracker donation for this auction fund raiser two years ago in memory of my mother, Mary, who lost her fight for life after beating stage 4 breast cancer.) Marla is a wonderful, selfless, giving person. I feel so blessed to have her in my life Sue

On that note I would like to add that I personally feel blessed everyday to have met someone like winter4sale (Marla) on ebay and that in some small way we have been able to share parts and pieces of our lives. And blessed to know that the biggest piece of her life was shared with myself and other members of P.E.P
What a wonderful group of people you all are and how blessed I am to be a part of it all.
