FOR THOSE
ABOUT TO ROCK
ANGUS WANTS TO TEACH YOU!
How'd you like to feel the sting of an AC/DC guitar riff in your
very own hands, taught to you personally, by AC/DC guitar legend Angus
Young himself. In celebration of the release of AC/DC's 17th
album, Stiff Upper Lip (their first album of new music in five years),
Angus, brother Malcolm, drummer Phil Rudd, bassist Cliff Williams,
and lead singer Brian Johnson want you to experience Angus' guitar
expertise first-hand. MTV and the Elektra Entertainment Group are
putting a "For Sale" sign on the colorful rocker, offering
a personal guitar lesson to the highest bidder, with all proceeds
from the auction going to the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Foundation,
a charitable organization based in London and New York City that provides
music therapy to severely disabled children.
AC/DC Vocalist Brian Johnson tells us that Angus is more than ready.
"Me lad Angus is at the top of his game. He and Malcolm outdid
themselves on this album. They had such fun with this one. The lucky
winner is sure to learn a thing or two before it's all over."
Says Angus: "You never know, the winner might be able to give
me a tip or two. If they're too good, of course, I might have
to tape their fingers together."
The auction for the Angus guitar lesson will begin on February 21,
with the winner announced on MTV's Total Request Live on February
29, (the day Stiff Upper Lip arrives in stores) live from the band's
first in-store appearance ever, at New York City's Virgin Megastore,
in Times Square.
An unprecedented series of smaller AC/DC auctions will begin on February
11, leading up to the Angus guitar lesson giveaway. Among the items
to be auctioned off, beginning on February 11, are:
- A private online chat with Angus and Brian on MTV.com, prior to
their official chat on MTV.com February 21.
- A chance to participate in the special album premiere party, hosted
by the SFX Network at New York City's Hard Rock Café on
February 24. The band members will appear in person to answer questions
from the audience as selections from Stiff Upper Lip are broadcast
live to more than 170 participating stations. The high bidder wins
the honor of asking the first question via phone.
- 20 autographed numbered/limited edition posters
- First 10 spots in line for the band's Virgin Megastore appearance
in Times Square, on February 29.
- A front row seat at the taping of a rare AC/DC live TV performance,
for MTV's @Large Week on March 10.
