We have received a few e-mails asking where we get so many telegraph and radio related items, so here is the answer, just in case you are wondering...

My wife and I are antique dealers with booths in a few different antique shops around our state, and travel a fair amount, so we go to a lot of different antique stores throughout the country as well as swap meets, yard sales, etc. Needless to say you can find quite a few telegraph keys and related items in these out of the way places! (Many times at fairly low prices too.) We have found a few things at army surplus stores as well... We have found that bookstores are a great place to find a lot of radio books at very low prices, so needless to say we frequent them as well.

We have a few of our relatives across the country regularly search these same places for us and they send the items in bulk each month for us to sell on eBay. It certainly pays to have help in finding telegraph items and radio books! So this is how we keep the quantity up, this and a lot of time consuming hard work!

You really do have to have a love for this stuff in order to hunt it down, pay for it, clean it up, fix it, restore it, describe and photograph it, and then take the time to put it up for auction here on eBay, all so it can end up in the hands of someone else who shares the passion for these wonderful old pieces of history... We feel that this is much better than letting them just sit somewhere unappreciated, uncared for, in a state of decay, and unused. Hopefully our efforts will pay off in getting these wonderful items good homes with good people who will appreciate and take care of them, thus preserving a part of history in the process. If so, and you are happy with your purchase then I guess we have done something good, which is our main goal.

The other questions that we regularly receive are along the lines of photos and descriptions... We use the same basic descriptions for each telegraph key, sounder, relay, radio book, etc. that are duplicates of ones that we have sold in the past, as there isn't any need to change the basic description, other than the condition of course, as that is the only thing that really varies and will always be clearly stated in the auction. So, they are different auctions, not just the same ones each week being re-listed. As for the photos, we (usually) use the same backgrounds and same angles for the photos, but rest assured, they are all different -- i.e. there are no "file" photos of our telegraph equipment, book covers, or other antiques, so the item that you see each week and in each and every auction of ours is the very item that you are bidding on. Please review our feedback profile and you will see all of our happy customers -- and many of them are repeat customers (whom we value very much) -- that pretty much speaks for itself...
