Dame Wraith Information Page

Welcome to my ME page!

Hello, I am Dame Wraith and this id is used to post on eBay's forums as well as to buy gifts for family and friends. I use a posting ID to protect my selling and buying IDs from users who may lash out due to the suggestions or opinions that I state. I have actually been on eBay for since 1998 even though this ID was registered in 2003. I am an experienced seller and buyer on eBay. I have been ripped off once which led me to the forums for help and advice. I discovered so much on the forums that I continued to read and post to help others

This ID may have low feedback but that is because it is a POSTING ID. I use this ID to post and to make purchases for family members (keeps gifts a secret).

The reason I use a posting ID is to protect my sales on my selling ID. There have been cases of users on the forums not liking the advice they were given and they have attacked sellers auctions. They will use the Buy it Now option to end multiple auctions and then leave negative feedback. They have also contacted other bidders of auctions and making false statements which has cost the seller sales.

If you would like to read about posting IDs, CLICK HERE!

For a laugh! Some are turning it around onto the scammers! Here is a link to a site that is fun to read. **Disclaimer: I am in no way suggesting that any eBay user scam the scammers the way that is being done on the following website.**

Frequently Given Advice for Buyers!

Review this. E-bays buyer protection program: Buyer Protection

Always investigate sellers prior to bidding on their auctions. View feedback (both left and received); look at registration dates, read the TOS of the seller etc. Review the user agreement with eBay and review listing policies. Look for violations (they can be a clear indicator of a bad seller). Never bid on items where a seller charges a surcharge for PayPal.com or other online service. This is a violation of the user agreement with eBay and PayPal.com.

Ask questions of the seller before bidding. This is a way to find out about a seller. If shipping is not listed clearly in the auction listing, email the seller. Ask them what the shipping includes (insurance, delivery confirmation etc). I personally do not bid on any auctions unless the shipping cost to the buyer is clearly listed.

When you win an auction, print out the auction listing after EOA with all photos. You can also save the page to your hard drive. This will be handy if you need to file reports of fraud or misrepresentation later.

Sellers are responsible for making sure that the item reaches the buyer no matter what the auction states. Sellers cannot waive this responsibility in their TOS. The only way to do so is if the buyer emails the seller will a notice to waive shipping insurance and that the buyer accepts the responsibility for the item's delivery. Insurance and delivery confirmation protect the seller only, not the buyer.

Protect yourself and use PayPal.com with a Credit Card to make purchases. This way, you can always file a chargeback if you do not get the item. If the item is misrepresented AND the seller refuses to allow a return, you can return the time and file a chargeback. Be care of this method, filing multiple charge backs in a short time period can cause you to loose your card. Check with the credit card holding company on the instructions for a chargeback and their policies.

Do not give feedback until the transaction is complete. If as a buyer you are having issues with the item or you have not received it, do not go to feedback. You have 90 days to leave feedback. There are other avenues to take first.

To contact eBay to file complaints or make reports, use the following link.

IF YOU PAID VIA PAYPAL

If you have not received your item within 30 days from payment, file a claim with Paypal. Note: this must be done PRIOR to 30 days from payment. You can also file claims for items not as described if the item qualifies. To locate the form to file a report, log into PayPal.com and go to the Security Center. On the right side of the page, look for buyer complaint link. You will need the transaction number, which is located on the DETAILS page of the payment in your History. Buyer Protection from Fraud

1. File a complaint with PayPay.com if you used this method of payment. Complaint must be filed within 30 days of EOA.
2. File a report with eBay after 30 days. You can file fraud for any priced item but you can only file an insurance claim if the auction price was over $25. File fraud no matter what since this report can get the seller suspended.
3. You can also file a complaint with www.usps.com no matter if they were the carrier or not. Every report counts.

Then, file a complaint with eBay after 30 days from EOA: EBay Support

If you paid by credit card (I strongly recommend that all purchases are made with PP with a CC), you may want to consider contacting your credit card company as many have protection against these types of problems. If you did not pay with a credit card or your credit card company denies your request, then you may be entitled to recover a portion of the item's cost by filing a claim with eBay's Fraud Protection Program. This program is available to qualified members (qualifying members are items over $25 and up to $200 minus the $25 deductible). Claim with eBay must be started at 31 days from EOA so file your claim on day 31. Do not let deadlines pass you by.

CONTACT INFORMATION

If you haven't already, please request the seller's contact information and give him or her a phone call to see if this issue can be resolved. You will receive and email from eBay with the seller's phone number, city and state. The seller will receive the same email with your information as well. Many misunderstandings can often be resolved with a simple conversation. You can request another user's contact information by going to...

"SEARCH" then under "Find Members" on the left side, "Find Contact":

If the seller's contact information is invalid, report the seller to eBay immediately. Do not pay for auctions if you know that the seller's contact information is invalid. You can retract a bid (before the listing ends) if the seller's contact information is invalid. After reporting, check it again in 48 hours. Report again if it is still not corrected.

Use this link for information on invalid contact information and to report invalid contact information.

FEEDBACK:

Feedback should be facts only and be written calmly and professionally. Never resort to name calling. If you are replying to feedback, the same holds true. Feedback is voluntary and a person's opinion only. A user can say what they want within the limits of eBay's rules. Feedback will not be removed unless it qualifies.

EXAMPLE: EOA X/X, PD X/X, Report to PP X/X, Refund w/PP X/X No Response to email

Where the /Xare dates. Leave only the facts and be as clear as possible. It is best to take your time and practice the feedback when leaving anything other than a positive. I never leave neutrals since users tend to leave negative for any neutrals received. It is also good to leave feedback AFTER you have calmed down and cleared your head.

UNPAID ITEM REPORT:

If you have received an email from eBay stating to remember to pay your seller for an item and you have paid, please use the link below to appeal this. You must respond to this email and disagree with the seller or the seller will get their fees back and you will get a black mark on your account.

If you are still unable to resolve your situation, and have reason to believe that this person is trying to commit fraud for personal gain, you may want to file a fraud report with the National Fraud Information Center at the following link as well as take the steps provided above:

National Fraud Information Center or at National Fraud Information Center, NFIC: NFIC Report Form

This organization is a primary contact for reporting Internet and phone fraud. Their internet site is equipped to help you with any questions you may have about the fraud reporting process and is even set up to allow you to process your complaint on-line.

You can also file a complaint with the United States Postal Service at the following link. USPS will investigate all Internet purchases even if they were not the carrier. I believe that they will require that you wait 30 days from payment before filing a complaint but they are very efficient with their investigations. Make sure that you have proof of payment such as confirmation of a money order being cashed.

USPS Fraud Complaint Form

It important that you file a Fraud Claim with eBay after 30 days and before 60 days from the time the auction ended. Once the Fraud Claim has been filed, you will be given further information on how to file a claim with our insurance carrier at:

Frequently Given Advice for Sellers!

Be very clear in your item descriptions! Always include everything that you can think of in your description. Take measurements even when you have a size listed. Include actual photos of the items plus multiple photos. I think that three photos of an item is good.

Have a clear Terms of Service (TOS). Your TOS should include contact deadline, payment deadline, payment methods accepted (including any clearing periods in business days), when you ship, shipping method and cost to the buyer, when feedback is left, return policy and any other information that you may wish the buyer to know. This should be spotlessly clear. If you would like an example, you may email me by clicking on my user name.

Always stay in contact with buyers each step of the way through a transaction. It is frustrating for buyers to try to contact you about an item and not hear anything back. Sometimes, there are problems with email and net contact so be understanding to the buyer. Try to put yourself in their shoes.

DO NOT ADD SURCHARGES FOR PAYPAL.COM payments or credit card payments. Here are the user agreements wording for PayPal.com and eBay.

PayPal.com:
No Surcharges. Under Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express regulations and the laws of several states, including California, merchants may not charge a fee to the buyer for accepting credit card payments (often called a "surcharge"). You agree that you will not impose a surcharge or any other fee for accepting Pay Pal as payment. This restriction does not prevent you from imposing a handling fee in connection with the sale of goods or services, as long as the handling fee does not operate as a surcharge (in other words, the handling fee for transactions paid through Pay Pal may not be higher than the handling fee for transactions paid through other payment methods).

EBay's:
Payment Surcharges Sellers may not charge eBay buyers an additional fee for their use of ordinary forms of payment, including acceptance of checks, money orders, electronic transfers or credit cards. Such costs should be built into the price of the item -- this policy reduces the potential for confusion among bidders about the true cost of an item. Further, some forms of payment surcharges, such as credit card surcharges, are forbidden under the laws of many states, including California.

If you include a surcharge, you can be reported and loose your Pay Pal account and/or your eBay account. You can include the cost of fees in a reasonable handling fee. Charging postage plus $2.00 is reasonable. Take advantage of PayPal.com shipping service. You can create labels and pay for postage through Paypal.com and the buyer will know immediately what the tracking number is. This is a great service and is a bit less expensive than going through USPS directly.

Mis-Shipped Items:

If you send something to a user and it is NOT the item they ordered, they did not have an order or the prior transaction was cancelled (refund issued, reversal of charge done or a chargeback completed), then you have sent a gift. You cannot demand the user to return it or to pay for it. See this link for information from USPS on this subject.

FEEDBACK:

It is especially important for sellers to leave professional and calm feedback for all buyers.

Feedback should be facts only and be written calmly and professionally. Never resort to name-calling. If you are replying to feedback, the same holds true. Feedback is voluntary and a person's opinion only. A user can say what they want within the limits of eBay's rules. Feedback will not be removed unless it qualifies.

FVC Credit-Step By Step

First, go here: Unpaid Item

File your Unpaid Item Report.

Then, 8 days after that, go to the left side of your My eBay Page, down towards the bottom, there is a section called "Related Links"

There you will find a section called "Unpaid Item Disputes"

When you click on this, it will take you to a page showing all disputes you have filed. On the far right side of this page, there is a column called "Eligible For Credit"

If this section has a checkmark in it, go back to the left side of the page, and click on "View".

You will then go to a page that will have a Close Dispute area.

Click on that, and you will go to the page where you can declare that you no longer want to wait on other party to respond, and you wish to send a FVC strike.

Choose this option, and you will get your credit.

If you could not accomplish your FVC, send an email through the Webform, tell them what happened, and request the FVFC.

WARNING! SCAMS

If you get an email from a potential buyer who wants to buy something from you (either on or off eBay and most likely off eBay) but they want it sent somewhere else PLUS they want you to send cash via Western Union to that location, do not do it!

What happens is that the "buyer" pays for an item with a money order that is for much more than the invoice total (sometimes thousands of dollars more) and the seller sends the "change" to another location via Western Union. They offer the seller to keep a bit of the money for their trouble BUT the money order turns out to be a fake! So, the seller is OUT all that money that they WU to some foreign country.

Do not offer or accept off eBay transactions.
Do not accept payments in amounts other than the invoiced amount.
Do not use Western Union to make payments
