I make every effort to describe the product accurately.
I charge shipping and handling fees that cover the shipping within plus or minus and, if the item needs particularly special attention in package design (due to heavy or bulky or fragile item) I include a fair charge for creating the special packaging and delivering it to the shipping center.
Shipping to addresses outside of the continental U.S.A. take longer and cost more than U.S. addresses. What may cost $19 in shipping to a U.S.A. address costs me nearly $95 to ship outside of the country. When I first discovered this fact I almost fell over backwards. My apologies but those shipping costs are realities that the buyer must be willing to accept If I had it my way, the shipping cost would be uniform across the board.
In the final analysis, I don't play games with shipping and handling charges and I make every effort to ship to U.S.A. addresses within 24 to 36 hours from the time your funds clear. It takes longer to ship outside of the country because my warehouse people have to send the item to an "international shipping" station where the item has to be repackage for foreign shipping plus custom forms must be filled-out and outrageous postal fees paid to make certain the item doesn't get lost on a slow boat to China.
Since I like to get items that I buy off of eBay as soon as possible I try to deliver as soon as possible to all of my buyers. Unfortunately, international buyers need to have a little more patience.
In fact my honesty and fairness lies on the side of the other person in the transaction. Case in point...
A while back a person was the successful bidder on a very nice and expensive coin.
I shipped to the address that he gave me but the day after I shipped the item he sent me an email requesting that I ship to a different address.
Apparently the first address he gave me was a business address that he no longer worked at.
I told him that the item had been shipped to the first address but when he checked with his former employer the item "apparently" could not be found... He claimed the employer never saw the package.
So after a couple of weeks I notified the buyer that I would send a replacement and...
I did just that.
And he received it and was extremely grateful.
Of course I went out or my way, and some would argue I was not in the wrong, nevertheless...
That transaction cost me "big-time" out of pocket. But at least...
My customer ended up with his purchased item and most importantly...
He appreciated my efforts, in fact he was stunned and amazed at the extremes I took in resolving his problem.
While I was determined to see that he was satisfied I am glad that the vast majority of transactions run smoothly and are not so lop-sided, in favor of one of the traders at the expense of the other, as that one.
