When describing Stamp Lots (Philately) we use the following form:
Scott's # (Scott's is a reference guide that gives you numbers and ways to ID
various stamps, and gives the market value for collectors)
The next line is a stamp description, starting with the price of the
stamps originally, the color as the Scott's defines them
Stamps come in a variety of colors, many of which are unique to the
world of Philately, please see the scans we put with an auction for
a better idea on the idea of what color is what.
For Instance: Lake - which is a red purple kind of color,
Vermillion - another reddish color,
Chocolate - a color of brown, and so on.
The next portion of the stamp desciptor is the name of the person,
or if it is in a Definitive (general issues) or
Commemorative (the name of the set, usually at the beginning of the Lot Description
The next line would be Mint (never used) or Used, with more description
as to the condition of the stamp.
The last line will have the current Catalog Price
for the stamp in its current condition
I realize most Philatelists already know all this, but I thought it
might help anyone that is just getting in to Stamp Collecting
