| What is the ESA
Foundation? |

| In
1998, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) and its members acknowledged the industry obligation to
collectively step up to support charitable causes by creating an annual fund-raiser, Nite to Unite - for
Kids(NTU). This
event raised over $1.6 million in 1998 and 1999 to benefit the Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) and its
rotecting America Childreninitiative. |
In
January 2000, the ESA board took yet another historic step in its endeavor to give back to the community by
authorizing the creation of an industry Foundation, the ESA Foundation (oundation to carry out the industry
charitable activities. The ESA Foundation is dedicated to supporting positive programs and opportunities that will
make a difference in the quality of life, health and welfare of America youth.
The Foundation seeks to harness the collective power of the industry to create positive social impact in our
communities. The interactive entertainment industry supports
geographically diverse projects and programs that benefit American youth of all races and denominations and both
genders.
The
foundation has since raised over $4.6 million and have provided grants to support the following organizations:

Foundation also made a special donation to Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund and The Community Foundation for the
National Capitol Region Survivors Fund to help the victims of the terrorist attacks of September 11th to
rebuild their lives and communities in 2001.

Kids (tm)
Nite to Uniteor Kidsis an
annual dinner hosted by members of the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) to raise funds for the ESA Foundation.
All proceeds are used to support activities and projects designed to provide opportunities to America
youth. Nite to Unite for
Kids/i> is an unprecedented effort by the interactive entertainment community coming together to celebrate the
industry continuing success, while helping to make a difference in the lives of America kids.
about the ESA
The ESA is the U.S. association dedicated to serving the business and public affairs needs of the companies publishing
interactive games for video game consoles, handheld devices, personal computers, and the Internet. ESA members
collectively account for more than 85 percent of the $6.35 billion in entertainment software sales in the U.S. in
2001, and billions more in export sales of American-made entertainment software. The ESA offers services to
interactive entertainment software publishers including a global anti-piracy program, owning the Electronic
Entertainment Expo trade show, business and consumer research, government relations and First Amendment and
intellectual property protection efforts. |
