Hello and welcome to Raggedy Pants.
My name is Michelle and I thought I would share with you a little about myself.
A LITTLE ABOUT ME AND MY FAMILY...AND WHERE I’VE BEEN
I am 41 years old and a self-taught doll artist of 15 years.
God blessed me with 2 boys Brock who is 23 and married to Katie and Curt who is 16. I am proud to say I’m going to be a grandma in June thanks to Brock and Katie! (It’s a boy!!)
When the boys where young I was fortunate enough to have my doll business so I could stay home with them. As they grew older I thought I wanted to get a job outside the home, just to get out of the house. Four years ago I went to work part-time which soon turned into fulltime. Having a job was ok...I have met some wonderful friends that I will have for a lifetime. I always missed my doll business so much, and it was hard to work and try to be dedicated to my customers like I wanted to be.. So about a month ago I decided to quit my job and return to where my heart truly is...sewing and all my wonderful customers!
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
I have always had a passion for crafts. I will never forget how I started out; about 13 years ago I started making little ornaments and button dolls for my family and friends for Christmas. I made some and took them to Curt’s preschool for the teachers. I was so excited when they all wanted me to make them some to purchase. I went back home and stayed up half the night sewing on my Grandma’s old sewing machine. I started making more and more things and Curt and I would take them around to the local salons and schools to sell. It wasn’t long until I was looking into craft shows and after a few years someone told me about Ebay. In 2001 I started auctioning my dolls (yes I’m a ebay old-timer)...that’s when my business really took off. While creating my dolls I began receiving many requests to start my own pattern designs. In 2004 Raggedy Pants Patterns came to be and what a blessings it has been!!
ABOUT MY PATTERNS
I remember buying my first doll pattern....it was the old kind. I didn’t have a clue what I was doing. A lot of the time I felt totally lost in the directions and struggled a lot. When I did decide to design I wanted to put a lot of thought into my instructions to make it easier for those just starting out. To this day when I design a pattern I always try to keep that in mind…I put a lot of diagrams and detailed instructions into each one. I also designed a “tips” page and add it into every pattern. It has tons of diagrams and good information to help you along. I am, of course, here to answer any questions you might have so don’t hesitate to email me!!
