THE
RARE COMICS OF LONG ISLAND eBay STORE:
Here's
a link to the custom front page of the store! Because of all the
eBay restrictions on HTML, I couldn't post this page on eBay, so I used
my own server space for it. You won't find this custom link anywhere
else on eBay (as per their rules), so if you enjoy this store, you
should bookmark this link. RARE COMICS of LONG ISLAND specializes in comic
books, comic series, artwork, professionally graded (CGC) books and Dynamic
Forces merchandise. We are expanding quickly into a wide range of other
collectibles - check it out!

My name is Ken and I have been a major comic book
fan, collector and dealer for over 30 years!
Since
starting eBay comic auctions back in 1999, I have sold hundreds of books,
artwork, and comic-related items to great people all over the World!
Business
has been good (and so much fun) that I became a full-time comics dealer
as of 2001 (I guess you might call this semi-retirement). Since this is
my full-time job, I ship every day except Sunday - you will always get
your items FAST!
I
am a registered dealer for CGC (Comics Guaranty, LLC) and for Dynamic Forces
comic-related items.
Handling
a lot of CGC-graded books and getting feedback from the customers on the
hundreds of books I have sold has helped me to develop strong grading skills.
I grade conservatively.
My
Guarantee: I insist that you must be happy with your purchase. If, FOR
ANY REASON, you are unhappy with the book(s) you have purchased from RARE
COMICS, you may return your order within 7 days of receipt for a full refund.
I
am very proud of the loyal customers I've been able to serve over the years
and I would like to share a few of comments from my eBay feedback file
that that I believe best describe the service that I strive to offer everyone:
komicbat52:
"Fast - Truthful and Wow! Great Seller!"
strider1011:
"yo! here is one of the most dependable people in the business!"
n1cewun:
"EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL SERVICE. COMICS EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED!!!"
comic-fan86:
"Fastest shipment in eBay history! A+++! Thank you very much!"
dee858789:
"My 1st ebay buy, thanks for making it easy! Your on my Favorites list!!
A+++++++"
ultimatevirginia:
"Books arrived fast and as promised! Loved the guarantee!!!!
I
picked these quotes because they touch on aspects of service that I consider
important. If you check my feedback file you will see these comments repeated
in many different ways! So what's important to me?
Offering
A Good Value - My items typically sell for between 50% and 75% of the
Overstreet Price Guide! This is a very cost effective way to build your
collection!
Honesty
- While I am in this business to make money and to grow, I always deal
openly and fairly. I try to describe all items to the best of my ability
and highlight the defects. I believe that I am an expert comic grader and
tend to under-grade if I have any doubts. In the extremely rare cases that
a defect has slipped by me, I always take the item back and provide a full
refund!
You
will also find a statement of current market value in just about all of
my auctions that is based on the condition of the book being sold.
Speed
- Communications are prompt and shipments are usually made within 24 hours
of payment. I always provide shipping confirmation (with tracking data
when available) as soon as shipment is complete.
Patience
- While I respond very quickly, I allow my customers to take some time.
I have no problem with delayed payments, combining items over a few weeks,
or understanding that special circumstances can impact when payments can
be made. The only thing I ask is that the buyer communicates his/her
plan. If there is no contact, I will go through the full eBay Credit process
which can (and does) cause suspension of delinquent buyers.
Will
Deal With New eBayers - Many dealers restrict buyers with low (or no)
feedback rating. I refuse to do this. While this has cost me some money
at times due to buyer defaults, I've also made some great sales to customers
that had "0" ratings and paid immediately! I believe this approach balances
out in my favor! Remember, we ALL had a "0" rating at one time!!
Will
Ship Internationally - About 15% of my business is now outside the
United States with shipments regularly going to Canada and the UK along
with Australia, Germany, Italy, other European countries, South America,
and the Far East!
I
have no problem shipping internationally!
At
the time I'm writing this, over 20% of my business is from repeat customers.
This is a very important statistic for me and one that I hope to continue
to grow!
Buying and Selling
Comics & Collectibles
As
a dealer, I'm always interested in any partnerships or arrangements that
will result in "win-win" scenarios.
If
you have a collection of books that you would like to sell, please send
me a list at rarecomics@hotmail.com
I'm
always interested in buying books published before 1965 and/or 10-cent
cover price books. Most books published after 1975 have very little collector
value (with some exceptions of course).
But
please don't bother sending a list if you're looking for 100% of the Overstreet
Guide. I've sold hundreds of books on eBay in the past years and I can
recall only a handful that sold at or above guide. Most comics sell on
eBay for between 50% and 75% of guide value. As a result, I can usually
offer between 30% and 60% based on condition.
