About Poppies:
I grow mostly annual types of poppies of the Peony variety in many colors. I used to show beautiful pictures of the poppies and the pods. Recently all of my listings have been removed by the "ebay police".
I have called and called and of course can not get past customer service. First they told me my seeds were banned. Banned??? there are over 1000 listings for them right now. Then they told me they were pulled because I showed pods and used the word "pods".
PODS??? Ebay has a whole category devoted to pods and the people are raking in the cash on those.
I don't even sell pods. I sell seeds which are LEGAL.
So I re-listed my seeds and took the word "PODS" out and they got pulled again..
I keep calling ebay and this time I was told that the FDA asked my auctions to be pulled... WHAT??? I don't get it.. I really don't get it.
There is at least one seller out there who markets his seeds as OPIUM Poppy seeds. So why are they going after me? I don't know... I don't sell or market or imply anything about opium...
Do you know that some of my first poppy seeds came from Burpee Seed Company? There were about 25 seeds in the package. I have been growing them for a long time now. I'm not sure why Burpee is allowed to sell them and I am not... Of course I am trying to contact the FDA with no luck. I guess I will keep you posted.

Well, I spoke at length with the FDA. A field investigator who has agreed to investigate my case. I was told the the FDA does not regulate poppies. They are flowers and it is widely understood that people can grow flowers. They just can't harvest opium.. bottom line... Oh, and ebay told me I have to put a notation on my auctions that says: "not to be used for illegal purposes"!!! like what?? using the seed for buckshot to shoot someone with!! geesh |
