Nationally renowned artist Anita Munman did not originally
plan an artistic career, rather her academic training
led her in that unexpected direction. After graduating
Phi Beta Kappa, Suma cum laude from the University of
Illinois at Chicago with a B.A. in the history of architecture
and art, she decided to pursue a career as a university
educator. While working toward her Ph.D. at the University
of Chicago in preparation for that career, she became
interested in how the artists of the American Arts &
Crafts movement (ca. 1900 -1925) translated their social
theory and philosophy into visual form. As an intellectual
exercise, she began doing so herself. This activity led
to the creation of the many images now available in her
collection of American Arts & Crafts paintings and
lithographs. |

| Anita's
interest in history and the re-creation of historic art has
extended quite naturally from her original collection of Arts
& Crafts work to the succeeding style periods of Deco Moderne
(30's), Machine Age (40's), Atomic 50's, Pop (60's). Another
era in progress is the 21st century. Anita's "New America Collection"
celebrates our new post 9/11 world, with a distinctive retro
sensibility. All of these collections are currently in the preliminary
design and development stage. We hope that you enjoy the sneak previews!

Anita's
list of artistic accomplishments includes an exhibition
at the Albright-Knox Museum in Buffalo, New York
as well as numerous solo exhibitions
at distinguished galleries and historic house museums
such as The Gamble House in Pasadena, the Greene
& Greene classic California
Home, Craftsman Farms in Morris Plains, New Jersey,
the summer residence of Gustav Stickley, and the legendary
Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio in Oak Park,
Illinois.

Anita's
paintings and lithographs have been featured in showcase
houses coast-to-coast and in numerous publications,
such as Home, Country Home, Country
Living, Better Homes & Gardens, and
Traditional Home.

Anita's
artistic skills extend to interior architecture and
design, as seen in the Traditional Home Renovation
Style publication of the restoration of her
former residence in Oak Park, Illinois.
Anita's
artwork has also been featured in important Arts &
Crafts books such as American Bungalow Style
by Robert Winter and Alexander Vertikoff and also
in The Beautiful Necessity by Bruce
Smith and Yoshiko Yamamoto.
