50's Chevys

We originally started restoring Chevys from the '50s some 24 years ago. Since 1988, we have completed frame off restorations of 10 Tri-Fives. Of course, there were some partial rebuilds during this time including a '50 Studebaker bullet nose Starlight Coupe , a '59 Dodge Lancer, and a '62 Chrysler 300 2 Dr. Hardtop. In 1991 we completed a '57 Chevy 2 Dr. Hardtop that made the front cover of Classic Chevy World magazine in April of '92 and finished no. 2 nationally in the ISCA Mid-America Division for the Late Restored Class.

In 2003, we completed restoration on a coral and ivory 1955 Chevy Bel Air Convertible which was a very numbers matching and very early original car. This car came off the GM assembly line at Van Nuys (L.A.) in October of 1954 only 8 or 9 days after production began. It was taken to Scottsdale, Arizona , in January of 2004 and sold at Barrett-Jackson... breaking the existing sales record for an original stock '55 Chevy convertible by more than $26,000. It came back to Scottsdale in 2006 and sold for $101,000.

"Gypsy"...

One of my favorite cars of all time was this '55 Hardtop, named "Gypsy". I owned this car for many years, but in early 2011 the time came to let it go and a Classic Car collector, and good friend now has it. 'Gypsy' is blessed with a 1970 427, 700R4 by Phoenix, and a Curry Built 9" rear. Color is PPG Torch Red, dropped 2" disk brakes, 605 power steering, Be Cool crossflow, and Old Air Products AC. The hood has 100 3" louvers adding looks and cooling. Interior is tuck and roll two-tone gray tweed. The paint is accented by white, yellow and red flames on hood and fenders. Gypsy has a 3 page spread in the October 2001 issue of "Classic Chevy World". She has won a Popular Hot Rodding "Outstanding Streetable Performance Car" award, a couple of "Best of Show", and "Best Modified '55 Chevy" during the Super Chevy Show at the Texas Motorplex during May, 2001.

'A Return to High School'

My 1950 Chevy 2 Dr. Fleetline

This car has a 'King of the Inliners' GMC 302 straight '6' 1954 truck engine with 3 Zenith carburetors, an original 1950s aluminum McGurk intake manifold, split Fenton exhausts, HEI, Howards cam, aluminum radiator with twin Spal fans and high dome pistons. Also enjoys a 60's Muscle Car 4 speed Saginaw, '57 Chevy rear and Mustang II front with rack and pinion. It was a 32 month rebuild. The 302 GMC heads with those huge intake ports are becoming somewhat rare and also expensive.
