My name is Donna. I was a young child when Barbie first appeared. It was love at first sight. I owned a Babs doll, a 1962 blonde Bubble Cut and a 1964 redhead Skipper. Growing up in Northwestern Indiana, my cousins, older sister, and I spent countless hours playing Barbie.
Years passed. I grew up, married a terrific guy, and moved to beautiful Northern California. In July of 1999 while walking down the toy aisle at the grocery store, Butterfly Art Barbie caught my eye. She was unlike any Barbie I knew as a child. On impulse I purchased her. My feelings for Barbie quickly re-emerged. A week later I joined eBay.
The focus of my collection has changed several times: nostalgic reproduction Barbies, modern Barbies, vintage vinyl cases, vintage paper dolls, Silkstones, and vintage Skippers. With the addition of a few Barbie, Midge, Francie and Skooter dolls, my vintage collection is now almost complete. My favorite modern dolls are by Robert Tonner: Tiny Kitty Collier, Marley Wentworth, and Ellowyne Wilde to name a few. I like my dolls to be pretty with a touch of innocence.
In 2005, I adopted a stray dog from Mexico. Yoli was rescued by Compassion Without Borders and Small Dog Rescue.org. Yoli has changed my life. We attended a positive reinforcement dog training class and have been training ever since. We are now learning the sport of canine freestyle dancing!
