The Rac Again

You are "Somewhere Between Heaven & Hell...", which basically means Earth, belive it or not. I'm a male artist and that has been the name of my art works since my first art show in Florida by that name. I do what I call series pieces, which I've condensed into the catagories in my store. My favorite medium is pastel pencils, but I also work in oils, oil pastels, acrylic, & pastels. My favorite subject is the human body.
I was born in Oklahoma, and have lived in Missouri, Kansas, North Carolina, and now reside in Florida. I learned to draw from comic books when I was very young. You can probably still see their influence in many of my works. When I moved to Florida, I began modeling for other artists, & learning from them. There are a few who have helped influence how I now work.
I became an erotic dancer at one point in my life, dancing in Kansas (where I moved back for a while) & Florida. It & the movie "Flash Dance" started my "Trash Dance" Series. When I began drawing, I signed my signature with my initials RAC (sometimes as part of the drawing, which I still do), and called myself The RAC as a dancer. Many people only know me by that name. I also sign some art with my name, so, yes, I use two different signatures on my art, depending on how I feel at the time. That should tell you a little about me, huh.
My only claim to any fame at this point, is that Barry (of BeeGee's fame) & Linda Gibb own several pieces of my art works. Linda has a "B*tch" of herself out by their pool which she hung over their pool bar. I also was a founding member of the Florida Art Center on South Beach. I got in with my "Butthuggers"!
I do some of my art works more than once. They are always designated by what number they are in their ad. The reasons are that I can do them cheaper because they do not include the initial drawing time & sort of an homage to Andy Warhol. I have a few people who like collecting them, some buy all the same pieces. They are all hand drawn & colored.
Now about my different styles. I do several, so I am going to give a description of them & what I call them.
-
Line Drawings: How I first presented my art. I still do & like them. Most are simple and elegant. My ""Butthuggers" are a good example of this style.
-
Solid Color: How I first began to color, only then I lined with magic marker, and colored with pencil. Alot of my "Body Parts" Series are done in this style
-
Line Color: The simple lines with some color. Just about anything can be done in this style.
-
Full Color: This is color done very specifically and is usually very time consuming. Some colors can take up to seven or more pencil colors to achive, which means it has to be done that many times. My "B*tch" Series is a good example of this.
-
Scribble: A fellow artist & friend got me into this because I was complaining about how time consuming & sometimes tedious my other styles were. She taught me this as a relaxation with my art, I liked it, so I still do it. Anything can be done this way, a good example being "The Red Neck".
-
Color Scribble: Of course I couldn't keep it that easy and Scribble art turned into this. At least it is exciting to do, although can be time consuming also. My favorite example of this would be "Bedlam & Friend".
-
Crosshatch: A nice style, but can be very time consuming. A lot of my lead pencil drawings are done like this, or include it.
