BOB & SALLY CUMMINS I started collecting coins when I was 10, and Sally wasn't much older than that when she realized she was also a collector. Combined, our collecting interests now span almost 90 years. A very short list of our current collecting interests include: Salem Oregon items, early jars, purses, buttons, compacts, dolls, kitchen items, early food containers, postcards, radios, toys, cast iron banks, books and anything colonial. As sellers we have always been overstocked collectors and value the friends that we've made and the places we've gone more than the things in our collections.

LITTLE BY LITTLE Here we are at beautiful Deepwood Museum where we restated our vows for our tenth anniversary 20 years ago. Picture taken by George Strozut. When we married 30 years ago Sally and I had a few pieces of family Memorabilia, but not much else antique or collectible. We happened into a junk store in that first year and bought an old bottle. Within six months we were seriously pursuing old jars and within another year we had begun to accumulate "go-withs." Ten years later we bought one of the oldest houses in West Salem (1/2 block from where I was born and raised) to better display our collections. About that same time I left my teaching postion at the Oregon State School for the Blind and began to pursue selling and collecting full time. I was also the Chair of the Salem Landmarks Commission and an officer on four Boards for historcial work. I am also the past Chair of Salem's Cultural and Tourism Promotional Advisory Board and I now teach an antique and collectible class for the local college and have done so for the past 17 years. I have taught an antique class for the annual summer Elderhostel at Western Oregon State University in Monmouth, Oregon and have taught classes on "How To Sell On Ebay" at Chemeketa Community College here in Salem. We also have about 2000 books on antiques and collectibles in our library, which serves to remind me that the more I learn about all of this, the less I know. After all, who would have thought a little knowledge of hypertext markup language 3 years ago might come in handy as an aide to collecting today? Free counters provided by Andale.
