ARTIST STATEMENT
I was born in South Africa, where I traveled extensively throughout Africa. Spending countless hours in the Bushveld, with nature. First, from early childhood with my parents, who were great nature lovers, and later on with my family.
I now reside in Toronto, Canada, where I have lived for the past 28 years, with my two wonderful sons.
My paintings are influenced by the exceptionally varied life I've experienced, and the great opportunity I have had to travel extensively around the World. These travels across the globe have influenced me enormously! And have resulted in my deep appreciation, and love, of the varied Beauties of the different Lands, and their beautiful People, with their different, and interesting Cultures!
As a little girl, I filled my days with creating my Art and creating my Music, and riding my horse in the open fields of glorious nature.

I have painted for as long as I can remember. Finally, I could no longer resist the call of my Art, and the Call of Creation! Two years ago, it came to me, that I had to Paint full-time. Giving up my career as an Architectural Designer, to commit myself fully to my Gift. Since I do not believe one can really paint seriously part-time.
For me, the Act of Creation is indeed compelling! I am involved, and interested in new forms of Creation,( not in painting what already exists ) the beauty of the brushstroke, the way the texture I apply works in the new Creation taking place before my very eyes! The important color choices that work together to create the feeling that I am “ inspired “ by. For “ Inspiration “ is the only way I now Work. I have evolved, to leaving behind, any preset idea of how the Painting will/should look, and create only as “ Inspiration “ and “ Intuition “ guides me in my Work. Sometimes, what I am guided to paint, does not always make sense to me at first. As I grow in my Gift, and “ let go of the preconceived ideas of the past“, I find the finished Painting to be indeed beautiful!
The Creation of Beauty is my quest! I look for the Beauty in everything. And I CHOOSE, only, to paint the Beauty I see, and feel for all Creation! I am a deeply spiritually based Artist! Each Work, I start, I mediate, and contemplate upon “ The Source of my Gift “, upon the “ guidance “ I am being giving, as I paint, of which color to use next, of where to place the next brushstroke. And I give “ Thanks “ for that received!
I seek, to beautify, to soothe, and to enrich the Soul that views my Art! That is the profound power that lies at the core of my Art, I believe.
I have studied Art at several important Collages, over the years, including the prestigious Ontario Collage of Art in Toronto. However, I have found that my Art cannot be contained by instruction classes! It is the free flowing of “ guidance “ and “ intuition “ that is my best Teacher in my Art!
Since becoming a Professional full-time Artist, I have had a solo exhibition of my Work in Toronto, which resulted in a sell out of all my Paintings. I have been approached by some Galleries, to show my Work, and have chosen, at this time to sell Worldwide through ebay instead.
I feel my “ Gift “ is an important one! And the very encouraging and inspiring feedback I have received from my ebay Patrons, seems to confirm this feeling I have about my Art.
WHAT COLLECTORS ARE SAYING ABOUT MY ART.
RJF produces work, that never ceases to enthrall and captive us, and, apparently most that see her work. I have had so many compliments, and offers to purchase our paintings. Fortunately I have not sold any! We have in our private and Corporate Collection, 32 paintings by RJF, as she calls herself, and intend to continue adding to our present collection. This is Art to collect, we believe!
We wish her much success with her wonderful work! Thats now available, to a wider audience through ebay. We are pleased she followed our advice to be available through ebay also.
