A letter from a customer . . .
Thank You! I thought you might want to know why I bought this book. When I was a child in Poland, Wojciech Kossak had an exhibition of his paintings in the town that we lived.
I was 5 years old and my parents took me to see it. One of his paintings absolutely captivated me. It was a scene of a battle during the Polish November uprising against the Russians , entitled "Olszynka". I was so captivated that I refused to leave the museum, even though it was closing. My parents pleaded and threatened to no avail.
Finally Wojciech Kossak heard the ruckus and came over. I remember him well. .He wrote down my name and our address and a few months later we received a small watercolor of a forest scene of elves and fairies playing under large mushrooms.
He painted it for me, with a special dedication on the back. The painting "Olszynka" is in the book you sold me. The watercolor was lost in World War II, along with everything else .
