Thanks to your generous participation the bids-4-kids art
charity auctions, which ended July 25th, turned out to be
an extremely successful event! We raised an amazing $15,000
with all or a portion of about 750 pieces of art listed on
auction and/or from your ebay stores going toward the charity.
Funds
raised will be donated to the international charity, Hole
in the Wall Camps, for art supplies to be used by the children
who attend the camps! We hope you all discovered and experienced
eBay's Giving Works and Mission Fish charity auctions to
be an easy way to donate to charities of your choice!
We, the
bids-4-kids committee, would like extend a personal thank
you for your participation and cooperation in this event.
One of the major challenges we encountered was balancing
the wishes of Hole in the Wall, Ebay, and all of the artists.
We tried our best to make sure everyone's concerns were
addressed and honored. We are happy to say the event ran
very smoothly thanks to everyone listing according to the
guidelines set forth by the committee. Without each and
everyone's cooperation this event would not have been the
success that it has turned out to be.
Thanks
to eBay's Angela Weiden in Giving Works, Dean Jutilla in
eBay PR, Jennifer Ibarra, the Art Category Manager, and
Eva Baran at Kaplow Communications. These people pitched
our story to local and national media around the country,
and gave us great exposure on the eBay site. Also, Dave
Aldrich at Hole in the Wall Camps sent out numerous press
releases and made several phone calls on our behalf. Finally,
THANKS to all you artists who sent out press releases to
your local media. THANK YOU!
This
was the first time any of us on the committee have attempted
to coordinate and organize an event on this scale. It was
definitely a learning experience for all of us! Our hopes
are to have built a foundation for future charity events
similar to this in the coming years. If this effort is held
next year it will definitely be bigger and better than ever!
