I got into Rap/ Hip-Hop whatever you wanna call it in 1984 during the Breakdancing craze and as it died out my love for the music remained. I started at the age of 13 collecting anything and everything Hip Hop and I was always the guy who had all the latest music and all the unknown rap groups nobody every heard of. I was the kid everyone would come to for dubs of tapes. In high school and college I got into rapping and making beats and came to Atlanta in 1994 to break into the music business. I graduated from the music & entertainment management courses at the Art Institute of Atlanta and went on to work internships and various jobs at local record labels where I found my talent for marketing and promoting music. I then became an independent retail and street rep for groups like Gangsta Pat, Three-6-Mafia, DJ Squeeky, Ghetto Mafia, Tommy Wright III, Kingpins Only, Spice 1, Hard Boyz, Playa G, Kool Daddy Fresh and many others. On the side I started Bigg Game Records and produced and released a few underground classics by Red Boss and Lil’ Tec, Organized Thuggs and others. In 2000 I started realizing that I had tons of cd’s and record laying around the house that I no longer wanted or listened to and I started selling them 3 for $20 on internet Rap sites that had swap shop & trading boards. I got into ebay when I found out that other sellers were buying cd’s from me to resell on ebay for a lot more than I could ever imagine a cd selling for. It was at this point I realized that I could combine my years of collecting and studying underground Rap and Hip Hop, with my experience in marketing and promotion to make a living doing what I always loved. Collecting and trading music.
I always strive to keep a seemingly never-ending flow of items running through my store. I always think back over my years of collecting and I try to market and promote music the way it always appealed to me by adding information about producers, as well as trends and styles of the time it was released. There has been so many different styles of rap from so many places over the years, that it’s hard to find take a chance on something you know nothing about. I strive to be informative and thorough so that collectors like myself can make educated decisions when thy purchase from my store.
