Thank you for visiting my web site. My name is Howard and I used to be in the Air Force. I retired after 24 years, 1 month and 19 days of dedicated service. I was stationed at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California. I used to do a lot of bicycle riding (mostly road), centuries, and double centuries. My last adventurous trips in the Air Force were to Thailand to help the tsunami victims, and after that a trip to New Orleans to help out with the Hurricane Katrina victims. I enjoy playing ice hockey as well as web surfing. I am now working for the Union Pacific railroad in Roseville, CA. I have three wonderful children (Beth is married and lives in Davis, Sara lives at home and so does Mathew) .If you are ever in California, look me up. My life
I am originally from Nantasket, Massachusetts, but have lived in Randolph, Whitman, Nantasket, Hull, and Quincy. I used to be a beach bum and enjoyed hanging around the beach, doing some surfing and trying to work on a tan. I was involved in a van club growing up and enjoyed traveling and camping, mostly around the East coast. Now I have a Motorhome (recreational vehicle) and do some luxury style camping with my family. I also owned several motorcycles and have taught motorcycle safety classes in the Air Force.
I went to South Shore Vocational High School in Hanover, MA and took the Machine Drafting course. I have attended many schools including Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, Alpena Community College in Michigan, Solano Community College, Chapman University , and finally received my B.S. degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. I started taking classes leading to a Masters degree in Education from Chapman University, but have not completed it yet.
I joined the Air Force in 1982 and my first assignment was at Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Oscoda, Michigan. I worked Avionics on B-52G and KC-135 aircraft. I was transferred to Travis AFB, California in 1986 and have been here since, except for some temporary duty assignments, and one short tour overseas assignment to Incirlik Air Base in Turkey. I retired in 2006 and then went to work at the UP.
The Air Force has sent me on temporary duty to places around the world, such as: Cairo,Egypt - Adana,Turkey - Frankfurt,Germany - Seville,Spain - Bonnyville, Canada, -Nairobi, Kenya - Pattaya, Thailand, and many more. If you want to hear about it, just ask me!
