My name is Laura Bracken and I’ve been making one of a kind jewelry pieces for fifteen years. My vision is to communicate a sense of happiness through the use of design and color. My two greatest inspirations are the clean lines of minimalist art and the rough beauty of ancient artifacts.
After years as a musician and writer, I eventually discovered my true passion of creating unique jewelry using an array of mediums and techniques. Having no formal art education, I’m referred to as self-taught, but I prefer to think I had many teachers in the form of books, magazines, local beading classes and online friends.
In 2003, my passion for uniting jewelry makers across the globe resulted in the creation of the organization entitled Self-Representing Artists in Jewelry Design (SRAJD) of which I am the founder and president. This non-juried international association is a place to find resources, inspiration, and encouragement for all jewelry makers who sell their own work.
