LAYTON — Cindy Sorley shared her secrets for success when selling on eBay: Buy low, sell high and sell what you love. A year ago, Sorley shuttered her Layton needlework store, Stitchery X-Press, in favor of peddling the patterns and materials exclusively on the Internet auction site. The move has not only increased her profit margin by decimating her overhead, but also given her the opportunity to stay at home and raise her young son. "I’m a firm believer that if moms can stay at home with their kids, they should," she said. Four-year-old Thomas even lends a hand with the business most days, affixing labels and stuffing envelopes. Sorley, who sells under the name BubbaCanDance, boasts a 99.9 percent customer satisfaction rating on the site. She was honored Tuesday as one of the Internet company’s top-100 sellers. An eBay representative called to make sure Sorley would be at home and promised her a relaxing and invigorating gift. "We were thinking it was a Jacuzzi," Sorely said with a laugh. Instead, she got breakfast in bed, complete with a rose in a vase etched with the eBay logo. She also received a pair of eBay slippers. There are currently more than 724,000 sellers who make a full- or part-time income on eBay. The company randomly selected 100 of its power sellers — those who maintain a high sales volume and customer satisfaction rating — for the honor.

I started my first Cross Stitch Business in 1982, shortly after I married. I sold to other military wives who could not get the supplies they needed. We then moved to New Jersey, Colorado (where we had a small store) and then to Utah. We recently closed our retail store in Utah due to increased rent. Deciding to be home with my boys, I am concentrating on eBay and on our website.
I am the mother of two boys, 17 and 3. (Same marriage) Thomas is our little gift from God...had him at 40 and he helps me daily in the business. Helps is an understatement. Thomas puts all the labels on your packages every day and then goes to the post office with me to drop them off. So you get extra special packaging with your purchases.
We offer hard to find and out of print cross stitch books along with new titles. We also have a full line of needlework including fabrics (aidas and linens), threads (DMC, Anchor, Weeks Dye Works, Sampler Threads, Crescent Colors, Six Strand Sweets, Caron), books, crochet, knit, tatting.. etc. The hottest items in our store are hemstitched baby blankets ... 2-45 inch pieces of flannel that are hemstitched together with a 120 year old machine and then you crochet the edging. Our out-of-print classics include designers and titles such as Prairie Schooler, Care Bear, Strawberry Shortcake, P. Buckley Moss and many others. We are happy to help you find what you are looking for.

The BubbaCanDance name came as a joke and a tribute to my favorite country music band and dear friends whom I had the opportunity to work with and spend a great deal of time with, Shenandoah, and their number one song, "If Bubba Can Dance, I Can Too!" We wanted to change the name, but it stuck and here we are.
