C5 Photography - My Passion with
Photography

I am Chris Rokitski and
have been taking pictures since I was a kid. However, in the
late 1990's I noticed I desired more in my photography than just an old
disc camera.
I
ended up buying a Canon IX Lite (advantix camera) and bought a
"Photography for Dummies" book. Soon after I also enrolled in
the New York Institute of Photography. I started on my
journey of developing my skills.
In
less than one year, I graduated from NYIP. Eventhough the
classes are over, I still learn with every picture I take.
I
have been out and about taking pictures from all over. I used
to live in Virginia Beach and visited the Outer Banks (OBX)
frequently. This provided me with many lighthouse
pictures. I have also visited lighthouses in
Maryland, Maine, and even Pennsylvania.
I
have found that not only are lighthouses patient when it comes to
having their pictures taken, but so are flowers. And just
like lighthouses, they can be found everywhere. I have taken
many pictures of flowers from my own yard, a neighbors yard, a
nearby field, and even my studio.
As
my skills have developed, so has my equipment. I started with
the advantix camera, and soon moved to a Canon Elan IIe. I
stuck with the 35mm format for a while. Some of the prints
for sale were taken with the 35 mm camera. After my
wedding, we had enough money left over that I was able to make
the conversion to a digital camera. I settled on a
Canon D60. Along with the camera I have
an assortment of lenses and accessories to help me with my
adventures.
Through
my success with
selling photographs I have been able to continue upgrading my
equipment. I recently added two Canon L glass lenses.
One
is a 24-135 and the other is a 100-400. These are great
lenses
and I have very happy with both. Due to the added weight and
size
of the lenses, I also upgraded my tripod. I never though much
about tripods, but after getting better lense and a better tripod, I
understand the importance of a good quality tripod. Of course
with new lenses and a tripod, I could not wait for a new body to
arrive. Canon cameout with teh 40D in September 2007.
Since my previous camera was a second generation digital
camera, I felt it was time to upgrade to the 6th generation.
After
all my upgrades, I currently have a Canon 40D with two L glass lenses,
and a solid tripod.

I
have
since moved from Virginia Beach and currently live in
Pittsburgh. In
my new home I moved next door to a prominant WaterColor
artist. I have
talked with her and showed her my work. She was pleased
with it and helped me start to sell my
work.
I
started with craft shows in the local
area. Since I started, they have always been a good source of
selling
my work. I enjoy selling my work at craft shows. I
have run into some
of the same people at each show, some of whom come back just to see my
work. I have met several friendly
people at
these shows as well. It is a great feeling to watch the faces
of
these people
as they come up to look at, and admire, my work. If you visit

offer this to anyone who wants to meet me in person, or see my work in
person.
I
work with a local gallery (Black Swan
Gallery
in Carnegie, PA)
to frame my prints or make any custom matting. I have worked
with
the owner who has been a great help to my business. In
working
with him, I can offer framing of any print in any type of frame or
size.
I
have also set-up my own website (http://www.C5Photography.com).
This was a new adventure for me as I have never set up a web page
before. But I sat down and took my pictures and figured out
what I
wanted. I took some time and worked with a hosting
company. My website has grown since I originally set it up.
I have even found a nice freeware program called NVu
that I use to build my website. This prohgram has really
allowed
me to redesign my website to a more professional site.
To
further my expanding business, I have decided to open an Ebay
store. Since I have been using Ebay for awhile under Kluskinoodle,
I have become familiar with how eBay
works. But I was not as familiar with how a store
works. I talked
with some other Photography Ebay Store Owners and they were
very
friendly and taught me some basics. So I took their
help, my knowledge
of how ebay auctions work, and my website knowledge and put them
together to open this Eaby Store.

in the community forums. They are very helpful, and full of
