Stephen Jahner
In 1973 The Book Exchange opened in Lansing, Michigan, USA. The owner at that time was a woman named Gina (last name unknown). In 1979 Paul Smith bought Gina out and renamed the store, Capital City Comics and Books, thus forming one of the very first "collectible" stores in the greater Lansing area. In 1980 Stephen Jahner came to work for Paul Smith, and in 1990 he and two partners bought Paul out. From 1990 to 2003 Stephen Jahner and his partners operated four stores in Lansing and Grand Rapids, including Apparitions Comics in Grand Rapids, with whom we are still associated. In 2003, Stephen Jahner and his then partners dissolved their corporation and closed Capital City Comics & Books. Stephen then formed a new partnership and opened a new store, Capital City Collectibles, just four doors down from our old location. We are now bigger and better than ever before, with our widest range of products ever.

David B. Jenkins
David Jenkins came on board in mid 2001, when we were still called Capital City Comics & Books. At this time, the store had no online marketing whatsoever. David Jenkins persuaded Stephen Jahner to let him try his hand at selling for the store on eBay. David had to sell through his own account, as Stephen's partners at the time weren't willing to set up an eBay account for the store. After meeting with some success, however, they were forced to cease operations when Capital City Comics & Books was dissolved. David continued to work for Stephen and his new partners in their new store, Capital City Collectibles. With a new location over twice the size of the old one, and an inventory nearly three times as large, it wasn't long before Stephen was again interested in online marketing. This time the store opened its own eBay account and asked David to take responsibility for all online retail operations. We have every confidence in his experience and his ability to represent our store in a professional manner.
