ABOUT
THE "CAPTAIN!"

"Captain"
Robert Kirk
By the age of
8, collecting United States stamps became a hobby. Now, that I am over
the half century mark and have more time to enjoy them, I realize why
I have enjoyed them so much over the years. Each tiny frame embodies
many keys: to an artist, to the talents of that artist and the history
that gave birth to it. Originally, I had thought of becoming a history
teacher; however, my life took a different turn. Today, I continue to
enjoy history through my stamps. Although I specialize in United States
postage stamps, I have acquired other collections over time; however,
my main interest remains in US stamps. Unless otherwise noted, all of
my collection is in mint condition with original gum and never hinged
condition.
I
truly hope you enjoy my collection and should you find an item that
will advance your collection, I will be honored.
Sincerely,
Robert
[aka 'The Captain']
PS
And, you may be wondering about the name. Well, my brother, David, and
I have this thing about "whose the Captain!" I won...at least
for another year!

PUSHIN'
the ENVELOPE [our Limited Edition First Day Cover Label] continues to
break new ground in a ever growing collector base.
In late 2005, we added a line of topical special cancellations to our
ever growing inventory. This new line combines our top-gun cachets with
topical US stamp issues to provide the most collectible topical covers
offered on eBay.
Again,
we are honored to have such a wonderful following on eBay
and extend our welcome.

IN
MEMORY
OUR MIRACLE
MAY SHE REST IN PEACE
IT IS WITH DEEP SORROW THAT WE
MOURN THE PASSING OF OUR FRIEND, OUR COMPANION AND AN INTEGRAL PART OF
OUR FAMILY. MIRACLE WAS ABOUT 17 YEARS OLD AND SHE WILL BE MISSED BEYOND
HUMAN WORDS. SHE IS NOW FREE TO FLY WITH THE BUTTERFLIES.
How Did
Miracle Get Her Name?
Okay, we confess...she's
not ours any longer. Our daughter, Jaymie, took her when she found her
own apartment. But we do get visiting privileges! We found her under an
orange tree. She was only about 3-4 weeks old at the time. Hence, her
name, Miracle. She is a cross breed; some Australian Shepherd for sure.
She's incredibly sharp, young for her 12 years and she loves to smile!
Can you tell?

THE
CAPTAINS' FAVORITE STAMP

"Cape
Hatteras National Seashore. The country first national seashore is home
to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. In 1999 this historic structure was
moved one-half mile from its original location to protect it from the
encroaching ocean. The stamp was part of the national park centennial
series issued in 1972."...North

From
the Archives
2002
Over the past few
months since the Captain and I have been "playing" on eBay,
something has happened; it has become a phenomenal business. As some of
you know, I was laid off after 9/11 and have been unable to find a job.
Ebay has provided us that home and extra income. We have met so many wonderful
people and now, after more than 6 months and
(518) of unique user feedbacks, we are feeling right at home.
2003
The Captain and
I were impressed with the people we met at eBay LIVE. There were powersellers...some
enjoying their 2nd LIVE show, newbies trying to find out what it was and
most of all the helpful, excited staff of eBay. All wore blue shirt and
kakies making them easy to descend on for ebay goodies.
After
an inspirational Keynote from Meg and Pierre, eBay LIVE attendees were
treated to a LIVE hysterical rendition of "eBay!" by Weird Al!
I was
especially inspired by the 500+ ebay employees who must have climbed through
some incredible hoops to attend....THEY WERE THE CREAM OF THE CROP.
2004
It
is with a heavy heart that we mourn the passing on 4/15 of the 1st Mates'
father, Jay Carol Clark.
Last year on November
7, the Captain lost his father, Dan C. Kirk.
In March of 2002,
the Captain also lost his mother, Betty J. Kirk.
These deaths have
profoundly affected us just as their lives did. We ask your patience while
we once again regroup and tackle another year on eBay.

Update
6/2004: THANK YOU eBay community for your support during this difficult
time. My 81 year old mother has become a part of our family! This is a
joyous time for all of us; however, it has meant some changes. These are
changes that affect us all and we appreciate your patience. We will update
you periodically to keep you informed.
Again,
THANX one and all for your support and kind words during this time of
mourning and change.
Update 7/2004: WE
ARE MOVING!!! Please be patient...we will be back soon!
UPDATE
8/2004: The move is complete; although we are still settle in and trying
to get a 'grip' on the business and where it will take us now.
Our
family will soon expand again during this 'adjustment period' ... my sissy
will be joining us soon. She moved her children here during the past month
and as soon as her house sells in Austin, she will continue to seek her
life and what the future might hold for her.
2005
Last
year was an extremely difficult year. [I'm actually writing this in 2006.]
Shortly after our last entry [8/04] we were hit by Hurricane Ivan [and
later by Hurricane Dennis.]. Although, we were extremely fortunate to
withstand only slight damage, my mother was not as fortunate. She fell
in November hitting her head and from that point forward life became a
blur. You know how when life throws you a fastball and you have to start
concentrating on the little miracles in the day-to-day living and not
on the whole picture....that is the way 2005 went. My mom is now in a
nursing home with some very special people that can give her the care
she needs. The decisions taken in the past year will affect our lives
for a long time.

I
pray that they were wise.

MORE From the Archives
"...I have
spent the last few minutes wandering (in a cyber sort of way) around your
store and related sites. What a great site......many compliments. [BTW],
I like the
picture of the dog, Miracle. My wife of 35 years and I have two chocolate
Labs named Franklin and Eleanor.
About the dogs.....well
I have this sinking suspicion that my wife of 35 years, if forced to choose
between me and Eleanor and Franklin would be stocking up on dog food.
All of our three kids are grown and married (and STILL love the person
they married) and are making us grandparents.....two so far and one on
the way due to arrive in September. When my daughter mentioned the possibility
of the dogs going to live with her, well it was
slapped down in a heartbeat.

MORE ...[continued]
... the plate block
that I recently bought from you is, believe it
or not the last one I needed to complete my air mail plate block collection.
About 30 years ago, my uncle gave me a set of Zepp plate blocks which
I have
kept ever since and I simply am not gonna pay the prices for C1-C3.
I am now turning
my attention to First Day Covers. I have about a 1,000 but
still have holes in the collection for 1939-1950....
Stay well, my friends
and I look forward to dong business together. Enjoy
the great Florida weather and send some up here to Delaware. eBay = ussmk
