Since its inception in 1998, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway has been run at a length of 400.5 miles, which is 267 laps around the 1.5-mile oval. This year’s special event to be held March 1, 2009 will be lengthened to 427 miles and will be called the “Shelby 427.”
