Skinner blends and making a cane
|
|
Hi again, I figure if you clicked on the “ME” link you’re curious as to who I am and what I do, so here it is…… I discovered Polymer Clay about 8 years ago while recouping from my 9th knee surgery. At first I made canes and covered everything that would fit into my oven. Then I discovered that I prefer to make the canes. I am self taught off the internet and later with books. I consider myself to be a total success in my clay business as long as I can sell enough to pay for my supplies. I just never thought my canes would take off as well as they have and I never dreamed I would “E-meet” so many wonderful people. I must be a bit of an artist down deep inside because I never seen to be able to follow a specific ready made pattern without changing it somewhere along the line. I either make my own pattern, design my own colors or make some change of some sort somewhere along the line. Many of my canes are one of a kind, once the length that I have made is sold it will never be repeated exactly the same again. The reason for this is that I have not taken the time from my play (whoops work) to write down what colors I mixed to get what. So if I do repeat a custom color it’s a total fluke, it’s not that I’m so talented. I truly enjoy making polymer clay canes and the main reason I enjoy it so much are the people like you who bid on them. I am totally overwhelmed when someone takes the time to email me to send me a compliment on my work. I sincerely thank you all for looking, bidding, and writing regarding my work. It gives me great encouragement and inspiration to create a cane that somebody will truly enjoy owning and using to create an original masterpiece of their own. Please don’t hesitate to write and ask questions about clay, making, baking, finishing, bubbles, whatever, I love to share all I have learned about it. I figure my unique style defines me from others’ unique style and that’s enough for me.
My husband is Ray Harm the wildlife artist (so yes we are related for those who might wonder) he has been nationally known since 1964. First off I’d like to say that Ray owns the copyrights to all his images and strictly enforces the unauthorized reproduction of any image of his. Ray co-founded the Limited Edition Print industry as it is known today and has always worked from life and not photographs. We try to monitor items of his (prints, original paintings, Spode plates etc) being sold or auctioned through Ebay closely to make sure they are represented accurately to the buyer. If you see an item being offered and have a question about it please feel free to email us with your question about his work. To see more of Ray’s work just go to his website ray harm.com
I thought I might try to explain how I make what I make by inserting a few photos of what I do. I love Millefiori canework. Millefiori meaning 1000 flowers. My canework doesn’t have 1000 flowers in it but sometimes the finished pieces I sell using my canework does have close to 1000 parts. Polymer clay is a wonderful medium to work with and to wear. It’s very lightweight, so beads, lockets, pins and pendants don’t weigh your neck down. If this seems like a lot of intricate work, it is and I love making canes and finished pieces as well. | |

PAYMENT I wish I could ship totally free but I can’t. I can manage to save quite a bit on shipping tho by combining wins into one box for you. I usually ship priority mail and I have no hidden packaging, handling or whatever fees. Just tell me to “start up a box” for you. When it’s full or you are finished bidding on current auctions you can tell me to invoice you. I prefer to be paid by PayPal cuz they have a terrific shipping tracking system that I like to use. Also, I’m pretty flexible on how long I can hold your box open for you. |
