We've been married for 16 years, although we've known each other for nearly thirty. I had the outstanding fortune to marry my best friend (in Yellowstone National Park, no less). Our mutual interests are what brought us together. We met on the CB radio, during the time when CB was the most popular form of communication for young people. (a.k.a. the Dark Ages) became friends when we found we both like to work on cars (I actually went to school for automotive mechanics), and have remained together one way or another ever since.
Since that time, our list of mutual interests has continued to grow. John is a LAN Administrator/Hardware specialist (computer genius would be more appropriate), I work with computers all day in corporate offices. We like to hike, camp, and travel together, and we enjoy computer games, and digital photography. (Let me tell you, Sony's Mavica FD 95 is a WINNER). Northeastern Illinois and the surrounding states offer more hiking and photographic opportunities than most people realize. At home we make all our own bread, pasta, and sausage, as well as grow all our own fruits and vegetables, and make our own sauces, salsas, sherbet, ice cream and pizza. Our multi-species animal family includes dogs, cats, reptiles, birds, fish and assorted small mammals. We also feed all the local wild birds and critters. When my greatest wish was for a greenhouse, John designed and built a beauty for me. Thanks to some great sellers on eBay, it's a very full and busy place, with everything from common varieties to exotic plants and cacti. We have multiple gardens and beds for various uses, including lily beds, fruit trees, a vegetable garden, perennial and annual gardens, flowering shrubs, a pond, and numerous homemade fountains and waterfalls. I enjoy woodworking, painting and various crafts, and John is an electronic and automotive expert. (As well as THE NICEST person I've ever known).
After all this time, John is still my very-best friend. Seems like the longer we're together, the better it gets.
(Hmm, hope he'd say something like that about me!!!)
