Courtney Simms is a self-taught, self-representing Canadian artist who has been drawing since she could hold a crayon. Originally only interested in pencil and charcoal drawing it wasn't until 2005 that she added painting with acrylics into her artist repertoire.
Always fascinated by shapes and the never-ending scope of colors it seems only natural that her interpretations would marry them together. With her unique take on expressionist painting she creates her signature landscapes by incorporating vibrant, dramatic colors with interesting shapes.
Courtney also paints portraits as a tribute to remember the lasting impressions of legendary and iconic celebrities. |

After graduating in 2005 with a degree in English those close to Courtney persuaded her to take her passion for painting and persue a career as a full-time artist. Her art has garnered much admiration and enthusiasm since first picking up her paintbrush in 2005. Those who admire her work often say the paintings make them feel happy and relaxed.
Courtney Simms is a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and has attended workshops with both Alan Wylie and Amanda Jones. |
