HOW TO HANG BORDER:
- If you are applying border over wallpaper...use vinyl-over-vinyl adhesive to ensure that the wallpaper will adhere properly.
- Sand the target wall lightly if you are applying over a painted wall.
- For easier handling, fold the wallpaper in the accordion style.
- Go around the room...following the ceiling...and be sure to allow an overlap of 1/2 inch at the corners.
- For areas such as around windows and door...overlap the strips (vertical and horizontal) at the corners.
- At the corner...cut through both strips...45angle...and remove any excess.
HOW TO HANG WALLPAPER:
- It is a good idea to start with the wall that is least noticeable.
- From the corner, measure out the width of the paper...subtracting 1/2 inch...and then mark the spot.
- Draw a plumb line (straight line)...at mark...using a level.
- Be sure that first strip is straight!
- Repeat procedure at new walls or when you reach a corner.
- Now cut the 1st strip...but be sure to leave 2 inches at the top and bottom...which is for trimming.
- Fill tray (approximately 2/3) with water..and make sure it is at room temperature.
- With the paste side out, roll cut strip...bottom to top.
- Submerge that strip in the water.
- Let is soak in accordance with time recommended by manufacturer.
- While holding the top, lift and unroll the paper...place it on work area.
- With the paste side in, fold both ends...but be sure that you do not make a crease.
- In accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations...allow for resting time.
- Now...unfold the top...and apply to the wall, allowing overlap at the ceiling and adjoining wall.
- Place into position...touching the plumb line.
- Using proper tools, such as a smoother, gently press paper to wall...but do not stretch.
- Then...unfold the bottom...and smooth it into place in the same manner.
- With the proper tools...going in a diagonal motion (top down and center outward)...smooth strip...releasing air pockets.
- Using a clean wet sponge...wash off the excess paste.
- Slowly trim the excess paper...using putty knife as guide.
- Clean paste off ceiling and.or baseboards with sponge and water.
- Repeat for additional strips...but be sure to pattern match!
- Strips should touch edges...not overlap.
- Be sure to make a new straight line (plumb line) on each wall.
