My name is Karen Sherwood. I have been a glass bead maker
for over 8 years. I got my start with a beginning beadmaking class by
Kate Fowle, followed by more advanced workshops by Kate, Jim Smircich,
Tom Holland, and Patricia Sage, Bill Rasmussen, and Leah Fairbanks. Along the way I've made friends with some wonderfully talented glass artists. I've done shows with the Intergalactic Bead Shows up and down the east coast, as well as the Best Bead Show in Tucson, Arizona. While living back east my business was known as Dancing Spider Webworks, but when I moved to Arizona
in 2001 I felt that a change in business name followed along with my change
in location and mental outlook (AND a new husband and home, this year). The desert is my home, my heart, and my constant inspiration.
I make my beads with several types of glass, including
Effetre soft glass, Gaffer glass, and borosilicate from Northstar and
Glass Alchemy. I love the variety of textures and colors that are possible
from each type of glass. All of my beads are carefully made and only the
best are selected for sale. They are fully kiln-annealed for strength and
durability, and entirely handmade by me, in my desert studio. Don't be fooled by cheap, mass-produced, imported imitations!!!!
