My name is Diane Weber and I am a quilt artist.  I've been making art in various forms since childhood, and making quilts for 15 years.  I sell my originally designed quilts, original quilt patterns, quilt kits and specialty fabrics in my store, Diane Weber Quilt Art.  I recently started combining my love of sewing and art into the making of 'Artist Trading Cards', or ATCs.  eBay has it's own brand of Artist Trading Cards known as 'ACEOs - Art Cards, Editions and Originals'.

My quilt designs are simple expressions of geometry, yet they incorporate many beautiful organic shapes expressed through the choice of fabrics.  My most characteristic design element is the diagonal line.  Its dynamic nature makes these quilts have energy and movement.  You'll never tire of looking at them!

I have carried all my quiltmaking skills and techniques into the making of my Artist Cards. I only use the best quality materials, and you will recognize some of the same shapes, forms and designs, rendered in miniature! I teach and exhibit regularly at regional, national and international quilting venues and conferences.  I have won awards and ribbons for my designs and my machine quilting.  I do this quilting on a domestic sewing machine, all 'free-motion', that is, with no marking or machine/computer guiding.  It's like doodling with a sewing machine needle and thread.

All my quilts and Artist Trading Cards are made with the finest materials, usually 100% high-quality cotton.  Pieces are sewn with high quality cotton thread.   Batting (the material between the front and the back of the quilt) is also 100% cotton, making for thin and flat quilts which will hang nicely. 

Everything is made and kept in a smoke-free, pet-free home.

A signature label is securely attached to the back of each quilt with my name and date.  A letter of authenticity relating the story of the quilt can be included at no extra cost - if you are interested please request this.

My most frequently asked question is, ''How long does it take to make one of these quilts?''  Here is my response:

Design can take days, weeks, months, or even years!  Multiple pieces are usually in progress at any point in time, so as design on one piece is maturing, other pieces can be in stages of construction.  Construction depends upon the size of the fabric pieces and the total size of the finished composition, and ranges from about 20 to 40 hours. ''Quilting'', which is the final thread work that holds the layers together, is an additional 5 to 20 hours, depending upon the detail.  Binding, sleeves, labels and documentation add about 5-10 hours more.

Some words about pricing.  We all know you can get a 'handmade' quilt in a department or specialty store for about $100.  These quilts are generally foreign made and not from the finest-quality materials.  I use only the highest quality materials.  A wall hanging to lap size quilt uses about 8 yards of fabric which sells in quilt shops for around $10 per yard.  A good quality spool of quilting thread is $5-8.  Batting is about $10 per yard.  So the materials alone that go into these quilts amounts to more than $100.  Considering the materials costs and the minimum time of at least 20 hours to make one of these quilts, I believe I am offering exceptional value.  Why?  Because I want to see these quilts have a good home.  I cannot do proper artistic justice to the over 200 quilts that I have made and own, and so I offer them to the eBay buying public at reasonable prices.
