Dystini works primarily with polymer clay. She's your typical Pisces....head in the sky, creative and not altogether normal. But we love her anyway. She does the sculptures by hand, and she while admits that the human figure and head is not her strong point, she also says she's developed a passion for mermaids and fairies and hopes she gets better with practice. She utterly refuses to use molds for her sculptures.
She also loves dragons and her "pre-teen and teenage" dragons as she calls them are a favorite of hers.
She also does the switchplates, pens, eggs, ornaments, etc and says "If it stays in place and will fit and survive in the oven, I'll cover it eventually." Luckily for the cat, he gets up occasionally to eat.
Dystini is also responsible for the beaded jewelry, tho that's no longer a big passion for her and she only does it occasionally now. She also admits that she hates repeating herself so almost all of her work is one of a kind. She can't even stand to repeat a pattern twice to make a pair of earrings. |

Dystini has had a piece displayed at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center for the "The Soul of Humanity" exhibition. Unfortunately we were unable to get pics of it actually on display but to see the pics we took before it was submitted, click here.
Available on Ebay for a limited time. Click Here.
She is currently working on a new piece for them. (pics available soon)

Shipping Policies
Almost everything except beads is shipped Priority Mail. Beads are shipped First Class (see listings for details). Insurance is optional but recommended for most things. If you do not opt for insurance I am not responsible if it is lost by the post office. Sculptures can be shipped UPS or Priority, at the buyer's choice, but insurance and tracking is manditory and included in costs. We combine purchases but this can increase shipping costs slightly. It can also save you a great deal. The basic Priority weight is 1 lb and it takes 3 or 4 or more items to make up 1 lb. We will always do our best to keep your shipping costs as low as we can. Always email to confirm the shipping rate. |
What is Polymer Clay?
Polymer clay is, as the name implies, a pliable, blendable polymer compound for artists. It's not a true clay - clay is fine particles of silicate suspended in water, whereas polymer clay is fine particles of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) suspended in plasticizer - but it can be used much like clay. Unlike earth clay, it comes in dozens of colors, and you can blend clays together like paints to make your own colors. Firing - the process that fuses the particles into a solid - requires only low temperatures, low enough to use a home oven as your kiln.
When fired, the clay gets hard enough to make durable objects, and can be finished in various ways to obtain textures from glassy to stone like. The clay can be made to resemble turquoise, terra cotta, carved stone, marble, and semi-precious stones like jade. And since it's soft and pliable in its unfired state, it's easy to sculpt, incise, and mold it.
Since the color is inherent in the particles, you can combine two or more colors together without blending them for special effects such as Italian Millefiori (originally a glasswork technique). The clay's pliability and ductility let you use techniques from woodcarving, textile arts, and sculpture. Polymer clay doesn't dry out, so you can sculpt and form it without worrying about a time limit. |
What are eBay Stores and how do I shop them?
A great number of eBay sellers have opted to open an eBay Store. You may be wondering what the purpose of Stores is. Having an eBay Store is a great venue for sellers who maintain a large inventory to place their items for sale in a structured environment, complete with categories and a search function to assist customers in locating a specific item easily. Think of the Store categories as "aisles" in a brick & mortar store. Store items are always "Buy It Now" at a fixed price! Although, the auction ads that you are familiar with also appear within the seller's Store listings. You can use the Tabs located on the Storefront page to switch between viewing only the seller's Auction items, the Store items, or ALL of the seller's items.
Stores listings do not appear under the regular eBay Search function that you are probably familiar with using. So, how do you find what you're looking for in eBay Stores? There are several ways:
You can go to the main eBay Home Page, and on the left column, under Specialty Sites, click eBay Stores. This takes you to the Stores Home Page, where you have the choice of typing in a specific item in the search box, or typing a keyword that appears within the Store's name or it's description. You can also browse category-specific Stores, such as "Antiques". You can even view a list of ALL eBay Stores alphabetically.
Another method is to go to eBay's Basic Search tab, and on the far-right, click on "Search Stores". From there, do your search by keyword(s) in the item Title, or by searching for a Store that contains a keyword in its Name or Store Description.
If you were looking for a specific item, for example "bubble wrap", type "bubble wrap" into the Search Title box. That will bring up a list of Items matching your search criteria that are available to "Buy Now" in eBay Stores.
If you were looking for a list of Stores that carried embroidered goods, you could type "embroidery" into the Search Stores by Name box. This gives you a list of eBay Stores that have embroidered items for sale. Scan the descriptions and click on a Store name to visit that Store.
Let's say you've landed in an eBay Store that looks interesting to you. But it has over 400 items listed!! That Store merchant will have their goods categorized. You can click on a Category name to see just those items. The seller, depending upon the line of merchandise, may break down the categories by size, color, or type. You will find that the Category headings vary by Store according to the type of merchandise being sold in the Store. Each seller controls how they categorize their items for sale. Suppose a seller has a category titled "Widgets" and the number in parentheses next to "Widgets" is 185. You don't want to page through 185 listings, because you are specifically looking for a "Red Widget". That's when you would want to use the Store's search box function! Located near the top of every eBay Store front page, is a Search Box. Simply type in "Red Widget" and voila! All of that Store seller's Red Widgets will be listed for you to browse.
You get how it works now.........so take advantage of the HUGE Treasure Trove of items that are available for immediate and convenient purchase -- in eBay Stores!!
