Welcome to eKlassics Gifts

We carry a variety of home decor and gift items, including the Capodimonte line of porcelain figurines, flowers, and lamps.  The following is a bit of story behind Capodimonte:

Did you know that the word "Capodimonte" literally means "top of the mountain"?
 

Well, the short version of the story is that in 1738, when Charles VII of Naples took as his bride Princess Maria Amelia Christina of Saxony, he received as a portion of dowry, Meissen porcelain. As a connoisseur of art, Charles decided that such beauty should be produced in Italy and, thereafter, in 1743, he commissioned the Royal Manufactory of Porcelain on the grounds of the royal palace, which was perched on top of a hill and soon it became known a the apodimonte.
