Update 8/25/09
Well what do I say? My name is Diana and I'm aa stay at home mommy (at least we are going to try and make a go of it). I have two sons - Orion who is 5 years, Wyatt who is 3 years and Aiden who is 2 years. My husband's name is Charles and he works full time (and more) at a regular type job. I now work around the clock taking care of our kids and home. Who ever said that that wasn’t hard work – oh yeah – that’s what my husband thinks. ; )
On August 7th, 2009 I was was dianosed with a tumor on my kidney that the doctor was positive was Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer) and I also had two spots on my liver that were "too small to characterized". I was just devistated!! I'm too young!! I have three kids that need me!!! I must say that during these last few weeks, I've just not been myself and have missed a lot of things in my work here on ebay. Tuesday the 18th, I had a Radical Nephrectomy Procedure (surgery to remove a kidney). That was exactly one week ago. I am now at home recovering and doing great. The last CT scans (and bone scans) showed no other signs of cancer (even those spots on my liver disappeared!!!) and my prognosis is good. Today I went to my appointment to remove the staples (uck) and get confirmation of the pathology report. Low and behold it turned out to be a very rare (especially for my young age) benign tumor (NOT Cancer!!!!!). What a wake up call this experience has been. I would like to extend an apology to all my customers who had to suffer with me during this time. Your patience and understanding has been great. Thank you so much!!
About me on ebay:
I was just looking around eBay one day and thought "Wow!!! You can sell anything on eBay!!! I sold a few old Nintendo game cassettes and I was hooked. I thought I could really make some extra cash here. I really didn't know what I could sell until my Uncle Mike told me I should try selling their area rugs on a website. I thought who needs a website when there's eBay!!
My family is a very artistic family - except me. Almost all of them design area rugs for manufacturers. I will tell you about them below. I found out that between four of them, they have over forty designs. I thought wouldn’t it be neat if I only sold my family’s area rug designs. I’ve set it up now to do this and am starting off a little bit at a time. I’m not sure what all this will entail but I have my family’s full support on this (including my husband’s!!).
My totally awesome Uncle Bob started up Magic Carpets Inc. about 20 years ago. I was one of his first guinea pigs alongside with my mom to start selling them on the roadside. It was good money but a LOT of work and sweat and I hated it (of course I was only 15 and more interested in boys). Since then I occasionally have sold rugs on the weekends for extra money but not happily – I still can’t get over the physical labor and sweat issue. My whole family jumped in on the roadside rug sale business and it took off. Next thing you know my Uncle Bob now has a huge nationwide network of area rug sellers. What a man!! More on him later.
Now for the Sullivan Design Team!!!!
The Sullivan Design Team has over forty area rug designs currently in production. Many of these are the top sellers in the rapidly expanding market of machine made area rugs. This talented family’s images also appear on blankets, throws, mugs and Christmas ornaments as well as prints and fine art originals.
Mike Sullivan
Mike Sullivan’s past experience as a commercial artist and airbrush illustrator has proven to be a valuable resource in his current field. Mike has become one of the country’s top designers of machine made area rugs. His sun & moon and celestial designs have been the top selling area rug of their type for numerous years. His popular rug designs have been reproduced by factories in Belgium, Canada, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. These rugs are sold by retailers all across the US. More than twenty of his images are currently in production as area rugs. Some of Mike’s designs have also been reproduced as queen size blankets.
Melissa Sullivan
Melissa Sullivan had studied architecture and had experience in retail gift marketing, needlepoint design, quilt design (which I think she was the best in the world at!) and fabric retailing. Her area rug design “Kokopelli”, manufactured by United Weavers, Inc. has been a best seller from the time it hit the market in 1999.
Melissa past away April of 2006 from breast cancer. I am so proud that she was my aunt. though I will always think of her as my 2nd mom. She is still alive in our hearts and thoughts. Thank you to all that have bought and loved her rugs and quilts.
Pat Sullivan
Pat Sullivan, twin brother to Mike, has been a successful watercolor artist for years. He recently moved from Wilmington, NC to Kyle, TX (Yeah!! He's closer to me now!!). Pat dazzled the rug industry in early 1999 with his instantly successful “Two Parrots” from the United Weavers Expression Collection. He has subsequently come out with several other playful tropical designs like “Tree Frogs”, “Tropical Fish”, “Pink Flamingos” and “Sea World”. These have all proven to be popular area rugs and blankets as well. Uncle Pat’s website is http://sullivangallery.com if you would like to view his paintings.
Elizabeth Sullivan (a.k.a. Bess and mom)
Elizabeth Sullivan has been an artist since she was a small child. As she pursued her degree in fine art and the University of Texas, she discovered a special talent for textile design. She has also pursued a career as a watercolor artist and has contributed wonderful designs to the rug industry like “Horse at Play”, “Shells and Rocks” and “Navajo Sand Painting”. Her website is www.ECSullivanArt.com if you would like to see some of her watercolors.
Bob Sullivan
Bob Sullivan has many years experience in the area rug industry. Bob is the CEO of the largest and most successful area rug sales network of its kind in the United States. He plays a major roll in the design department and has been the driving force behind many of our most popular area rugs. His company, Magic carpets Inc., now has sales representative nationwide.
WOW!! What a great family. Now you know more about me and my family then most people. ; ) I will be adding pictures soon.
