About Our Business Since 1989, Bruce Hershenson has organized 18
major movie poster auctions (10 for Christie's auction house, 3 for Howard
Lowery auction house, and 5 mega-auctions held on eBay in 2001-2004) with
total sales of over 10 million dollars! Between 1989 and 1999 he sold over
30,000 vintage movie posters and lobby cards through sales catalogs with sales
of over 4 million dollars. In 2000, Bruce became seller eMoviePoster on eBay,
selling over 300,000 items with total sales of over $13,000,000, and in 2008
he opened his own site, and has auctioned over 300,000 items for over $9 million! Bruce has also published 42 full-color
movie poster books that have combined sales of over 300,000 copies!
About Our Philosophy Having seen how many auction houses operate first
hand, Bruce Hershenson started eMoviePoster with the philosophy that auctions
should be run with honesty and integrity. That is why we are always as
accurate as possible, have
NO buyers premiums or reserves, ship orders
as quickly as possible, endeavor to provide timely and friendly responses to
customers, and provide our
"no questions asked" return policy. More
so, these policies extend to
EVERY SINGLE BUYER regardless of whether
you spend just a few dollars or spend several thousands. When you buy from
eMoviePoster, you aren't "just another buyer"; you will always be treated as
one of our most valued customers!
About Our Auctions Every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday, eMoviePoster
adds 200 to 1000 items to online auctions. All the Tuesday and Thursday items
begin around 7 PM CST (Sunday items begin at 3 PM CST), which means they close
the following Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday around the same time. If you go to
our list of items each Tuesday and Thursday night
PRIOR to 7 PM CST (or
Sunday prior to 3 PM CST), you can view the current items just before they
close (so you can make last minute bids), plus you can look at the items for
the upcoming week (we add the next week's items just as the current items
close). Each of our weekly sales contain around $20,000-$50,000 of movie
posters, lobby cards, and/or other movie paper, and
EVERY ITEM starts
at just $1, with
NO RESERVE on any item, which means these have
competitive bidding (where the final prices are set by two or more real
bidders, not by you bidding against a reserve). Far too many auctions have
sky-high reserves, which is why so many go unsold. Over 99% of
OUR over
586,000+ items to date have sold, and in the last couple of years, just about
every single item has sold!
What
distinguishes OUR auctions from those of other private auction houses? Note that some auction houses treat their
buyers as if it is Halloween all year long, except they play many "tricks" on
them, and give them very few "treats"! They SAY their auctions are
"$1 no reserve", but actually they are "$15 no reserve" when take into account
their minimum $14 buyers premium. They SAY many of their items are
in excellent condition, but all too often the buyer receives an item that is in
far lesser condition than they said, and they even trick you with the images,
using "stock images" or "enhanced images". Worst of all, some use "house
bidders" who seem to have a spooky ability to bid just under the amount the real
bidders were bidding!
But in eMoviePoster auctions, "$1 no reserve" means just
that, and every week we sell lots and lots of items for just $1, $2, or $3!
And every item is honestly described, with a super-sized unenhanced image of
every item. And every item is truly sold, and to the highest bid placed by
real bidders!
Most weeks, we auction over 2,000 lots in our Tuesday, Thursday,
and Sunday auctions combined, and it is virtually a
certainty that every week some percentage of them sell for "bargain" prices, and there
are usually some absolute "steals", and because we have such a HUGE
selection, you can easily find extra items to add to your order and not pay any
extra U.S. shipping, and that can be a huge savings! Remember that, unlike the majority of "hobbies",
where the money you spend on your hobby is gone forever, the money you spend
buying movie paper will almost certainly be recovered the day you ever sell your
collection (and many, many collectors have made lots of money on their
collection over time, because unlike stocks, vintage movie paper continually
rises over time!).
