Eric Black has won several awards and citations for his animation shorts.
They have been called “mesmerizing.” Eric’s “Marcus
Peblo,” was a finalist in the Atom films Animation Showdown. At
hotwired.com his short, “The Race,” won praise and attention.
To nobody’s surprise, Eric’s website was a ”Cool Site
if the Day” in 2003. In 2004 Eric worked on as the Assistant Director
on an “urban” animation pilot for Spike TV at MTV Networks.
Eric’s first DVD, titled “The Marcus Peblo Saga: Mystery
Gift,” is now available on Ebay.com It’s a compilation of
his original award winning episodes and other work. Eric creates his
own animations, as well as original music scores. The “saga”
premiered at the Cinema Paradise Independent Film Festival in Hawaii
and episodes were shown at the Rockon Festival in Texas.
At age 11, Eric won the Citibank Calendar Award in NY, and was interviewed
on several TV shows, including Focus in New York and Straight Talk.
At 13, Eric submitted his first picture book to a major publisher, and
was encourages to send more work. At Art and Design High School, Eric’s
Hip-Hop group signed a deal with a producer who had the #1 record in
the country.
Eric earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at SUNY Purchase. After
graduation, Eric got an internship at a New York City film company,
where he learned digital imaging and video editing techniques. He was
soon assigned to do major work on TV commercials for companies like
McDonald’s, Bally’s Total Fitness, and Bud Light.
Eric’s DVD project is the first launch of his Company Robotpegasys.
His goal was to make a movie that was magical, with the air of “a
puzzle.” He say’s it’s an epic theme that touches
on “good and evil,” taking you on a journey from ancient
times to the present. How good is Eric’s work? At comedic-genius.com,
the webmaster says, “In the next few years, this guy is going
to have folks like Disney eating out of his hand.” Eric modestly
responds: “I just hope fans take a look at my work.”
