My Two Passions

 Since retiring nine years ago, I have given in to complete self-indulgence in my two major passions - books and philately ... mostly FDCs. Unfortunately, my "seniors' memory" does not prevent me from picking up duplicates, which I am now offering on eBay ... so that I can continue buying!

Stamps

 I mostly collect first day covers - from Japan, China (PRC), Canada, France (plus French Antartic), Germany (both BRD & DDR), Holland (plus Surinam & Dutch Antilles), Switzerland,Liechtenstein, Greece, Israel, Australia (plus Cocos & Christmas Island), New Zealand, South Africa, Namibia and the UK (plus Guernsey & Jersey). I began this back in the "mega-show" in Washington DC in 1988 - the wild scene of 150 dealers and stamp agencies just blew my mind and revived my teen-age passion for stamp collecting. Retirement after forty years of teaching (mostly small colleges) has surprisingly enabled me to enjoy this fairly modest self-indulgence. What fun! (revised October 18, 2006)
