Here at experimental craftworks we love creating the unusual and the divine. All items you see here at Experimental Craftworks are hand made. No two pieces are alike. We create handmade beaded jewelry. We craft necklaces, earrings, bracelets, full and demi parure jewelry sets. We create handmade artisan jewelry out of sterling silver, artisan lampwork beads, and other precious materials. Our fine art jewelry is created from semi precious stones, dichroic glass, gold, and fine silver. We always have a large selection to choose from weather you are looking for simple glass earrings for your little girl, or a stunning fine art piece that will make you the envy of all the women in the room. We take pride in the handcrafted jewelry we create. We love coming up with new ideas and are always open to suggestions.

Hand dyed silk scarves:

We also love the sensuous silk scarf, we use crepe de chine silk and dye in many pretty colors. Our scarves may be used as head wraps, belts, scarves, ascots, or a cute summer top. We hand dye crepe de chine silk scarves in a rainbow if colors. Sometimes we make up new colors. We hand dye all of our silk scarves using color fast fiber reactive dyes.

Lael Erskine  Studio Director

I am Lael and I the main artist for Experimental Craftworks. I have a MS in Physical Chemistry and worked in the textile industry as a chemist for about three years. I have sewn, embroidered, and needle pointed since I was very young, before anything ever really turned out the way I had in mind. I have much more experience now in how to make my crafts turn out to match what in my head. I like clothes and accessories to fit. Not just the body but the personality. Dress clothes look better when they fit your body in particular, and they can have their dramatic impact heightened by accessories that match. I like color and detail, elegance and quirky fun in my clothes and accessories, but often find that a particular era, genre, or color scheme is equally inspiring. I sometimes wake up from dreams with ideas for pieces of clothing or jewelry. I learning about jewelry making beyond beading, as in silver-smithing and stone setting, but Ie been working with wire and thread and beads for a number of years.

 

 

Mariah Dunn Business Director

I am Mariah and I in charge of E-bay sales, booking for fairs, public relations, and also love to make jewelry. I have been making jewelry and accessories for my self for over 20 years. If I didn have the money to buy something I would just make it. If I wanted to have an outfit match entirely I would design accessories to put it all together. I have been known to have three or more full Halloween costumes each year for different events. I have been in retail sales for over ten years. Everything from high end Bosh dishwashers to cigars. I love making accessories out of non-traditional items like hair sticks out of 6 inch machine bolts or ahair piece out of video tape and curling ribbon. I have also ripped apart a red and silver leopard print pillow case and made a top and edged my shorts in the fabric for a 70 disco party. My motto is ife is a costume party Experimental Craftworks lets me dress/accessorize the world as well.
