Clyde Cremer Clyde Cremer was born in rural New Albin, Iowa. Living on the edge of a large hardwood forest fostered his love for nature and trees. In 1963 he joined the Army and was trained as a tank driver. He spent 18 months at the Artic Test Center and was then assigned to the intelligence section (G-2) of the 1st Armored Division in Ft. Hood, Texas. After the Army he moved to Susanville, CA.
He attended Lassen College and earned an AA in Forestry spending his summers cruising timber in South Eastern Alaska. He then went to Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, TX where he earned a BS in Forestry. After graduating he worked as a fire fighter and was a member of Flathead National Forests Hot Shot Crew.
In 1971 he moved to New Haven, CT where he earned a Masters Degree in Forestry from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Science.
After Yale he worked as the procurement forester and director of marketing for a log home company in Connecticut. During this time he served as one of the founding members of the Wood Products Association of Connecticut and wrote the timber harvesting guidelines for the association. After many months of soul searching Clyde left in 1977 to start American Log Homes.
Clyde has also been a director of the North American Log Builders Association (NALBA) but resigned in 1984 as they would not adopt a code of ethics.
Mr. Cremer has two children, Jeff who is 26 and Kellie who is 23. He currently lives in Pueblo, Colorado with his wife Gail.
Jeff Cremer
Jeff Cremer holds a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology fom Colorado State University and a Masters of Science in Construction Management from Arizona State University.
As a graduate student Jeff chosen to be a research assistant for the Arizona Partnership for Advancing Technology in Housing where he researched radio frequency identification (RFID) and sensor technologies for use in the construction industry. He was also helped write and submit reports to the National Science Foundation, an independent US government agency responsible for promoting science and engineering through research programs and education projects.
Jeff was also a project engineer for one of the largest engineering and construction companies in the world, with annual revenues exceeding $3 billion.
Jeff is a licensed private pilot with over 160 flight hours and 450 take-offs and landings. He holds certifications for complex and high performance aircraft.
Jeff also holds 3 PADI SCUBA dive licenses including open water, advanced and rescue diver. He has completed numerous dives all over the world and has been to depths of over 130ft.
