Where it All Began.......
We live in Florida along the Emerald Coast where the sand is white
and the water is emerald green - a paradise found!
Unfortunately, we do have some problems - called hurricanes. A lot of
damage occurred a few years ago when hurricane Ivan came to town.
Because the hurricane shelters cannot take pets many animals survived
the stormsonly to find themselves lost. After a hurricane nothing
looks or smells the same and it is difficult to find their way home without landmarks.
The local animal shelters fill with lost pets while
others are found just wandering.
As a result of working with our local shelter we found that there was a
real need to have identification on each pet with a phone number.
This way the pet gets home and the owner has one less thing to
worry about! We decided on embroidered collars because people
are more likely to look down and call a phone number than they
are to pick up an unfamiliar animal and drive them to the Vet
or a shelter on the off chance that they carry an ID chip.
Low tech wins this time!
