Greetings and Welcome to OUR about me page!
*About Me: My name is Jettonne, I am a SRA (Self Representing Lampwork Glass Artist) with 33 years of experience. Each bead I offer for sale is personally and carefully handmade solely by me, in my home garage studio, using an art form process called ‘lampworking’. All of my lampwork glass art beads start from long glass rods of Italian Moretti/Effetre, Murano, Lausha, Reichenbach, Double Helix Glassworks, Ask, CIM, Bullseye, soft glass..OR Northstar, Glass Alchemy, Schott, Pyrex Borosilicate hard glass, melted in my gas and oxygen ‘Nortel Minor Burner’ OR my ‘Carlisle WildCat’ torch flame, shaped and formed freehand, using no molds, and are properly kiln annealed overnight for lasting strength and durability. Great care is taken when cleaning each individual bead, inspected fully for quality assurance, securely packaged and rushed to you upon cleared payment...Your satisfaction is always guaranteed!
And now, for the rest of my story…I first started making handmade lampwork glass art sculptures when I was only 16 years old, way back in 1976. I knew a friend, of a friend, who was starting his very own lampwork glass company and I was lucky enough to be hired part time, while I went to high school. I actually worked for an entire month without pay and I loved every minute of it. From that point on, I was hooked! There were only a handful of us at the start, however, the company soon grew to become a major corporation. I grew along with them as a dedicated and faithful lampworker for 28 years. I made very large handtorched novelty items such as pumpkin coaches, carousels with dangling horses, angels, fancy branches with flower and hummingbird designs, butterflies, sailboats, to name only a fewJ, and the company used only clear borosilicate hard glass in their designs. The color was applied, after the annealing stage, by airbrush design artists in another department. But as with all good things, the company started to take a turn in another direction. I made the decision to branch out on my own, to work from home. I hadn’t any knowledge or experience with setting up my own studio, nor had I ever worked with colored glass or soft glass. I studied for a year or more, through books and some help from the internet, and decided to begin experimenting with and incorporating colored glass into my OWN designs from my home built garage studio. Starting from the year 2006, I am self taught. Experimenting with the techniques using colored glass is my present day challenge.
Since the beginning of time, many cultures have worn jewelry, which is what inspired me to create one of a kind art glass beads. I am completely honest, I am my own worst critic. I strive for excellence, quality, unique works of art. My goal for the coming future is to become much appreciated and needed. I am always open to requests; I would love to hear from you! I hope you will stay tuned and watch me grow, for YOU are my sunshine! Bless you all for your interest and most of all your appreciation. Love, hope and peace, Jettonne
