Several years ago I traded in my corporate desk for an easel. I got the better end of that deal, and I couldn't be happier about it.

Shortly thereafter I began making one small painting every day. I maintained that schedule strictly for only a few months, but it's had an important and lasting effect on me as an artist. The very disciplined approach not only helped shape my working habits, I believe it helped me improve technically and artistically. It also led me to focus on smaller works, which have been the majority of my output since then. I currently produce on average two or three of these small paintings every week.

My paintings are still lifes on an intimate scale, all done in oil. They owe an obvious and conscious debt to the great Dutch still life masters of 350 years ago. However, I live and work very much in the present, so modern sensibilities also assert themselves, albeit in subtle ways.
