So...you FOUND the place! Sit down, have a cup of coffee...

I've been a professional artist for more than 25 years, and that has resulted in a GREAT PILE of paintings, drawings and sketches. I'm needing to clear out my studio and simplify my life, so if you've ever wanted an original painting at VERY affordable prices, watch for my other eBay ID, cathyjohnsonart!

My eBay store, http://www.stores.ebay.com/katestreasures, is always there with great offerings, even when I don't have much time for listing. I find that having things available for people without the pressure of an auction is nice, too, particularly for things I have more than one of. I keep lots of my books and jewelry there! (So THAT'S what "available" means when you see someone's "about me" listings! It's store inventory!)

My name is actually Cathy, as you can see from the montage up top--but most often I'm known as Kate these days. I've been interested in making art forever--literally as long as I can remember--and in nature and magic since I was a kid. History has been a consuming interest since I was a teenager (almost forever!). I've written and illustrated articles for Artist's Magazine, Watercolor Magic, Early American Life, Women's History Magazine, Americana, Country Living, Sierra, Muzzleloader, Harrowsmith, Country Journal, Science Digest, Sports Afield and a few others(whew--wears me out, too!) I was a contributing editor for The Artist's Magazine and Watercolor Magic for close to 20 years (which pretty much meant I wrote regularly for them, not that I edit anything but my own work), and was contributing editor and staff naturalist for Country Living for 11 years. I've written and illustrated 34 books, five on subjects of interest to the history-loving community, the rest art how-to (for North Light and Sierra Club) or natural history. I often use the pen and ink art I create for magazines or books in my faux-scrimshaw jewelry.

Recent projects are mixed media assemblages, small in size but rich in detail and texture (I call them "illuminated ephemera"). They've done very well on eBay--look under Self-Representing Artists, or just go directly to katestreasures, where you'll often find some of them in my eBay store.

Other recent directions have been a renewed commitment to journaling, which has resulted in my being included in Danny Gregory's newest book an artists' journals--what a kick!

I have a small business, Graphics/Fine Arts, and publish books of interest living history interpreters and those with an interest in nature. We've published 7 books now, and more on the way. You'll often see some of these up on auctions or in my eBay store.

But back to eBay--it's lots of fun creating jewelry that someone else likes as much as I do, sharing my interest in nature, history, or the things just beyond the edge of the known world. I like making my art available for wear, or finding just that perfect something to offer. Since "Pirates of the Caribbean" came out, my little booklet, Pyrates in Petticoats (about some of the famous and infamous female pirates), has sold great guns at auction and in the store! Thanks, all!

Of course, it's also great to clear some of a lifetime's collections out of my house! Waaaay too many books and antiques and collectibles (and ART!!)...gotta make room! :-) But best yet, I've met some terrific people here...
