My interest in art was encouraged by my family and teachers, and continued to grow through high school.  When I was fifteen, an art teacher of mine submitted my work for review at Chouinard Art School in Los Angeles, and I was awarded a scholarship.

   This began more than 30 years of working in various mediums, producing drawings, landscapes, portraits, murals, commercial illustration, commissions, etc., for private and commercial clients throughout the United States and in Canada, Spain, Italy, Ireland and England.

  I have also participated in several private workshops, and classes at CalArts and Otis-Parsons.  I have taught on all levels from preschool to adult, and have held membership in various art leagues and organizations. 

I have participated in the juried Open Studios Tour in Santa Cruz, and have had numerous gallery representations.  

In 2000 I was introduced to eBay, and my focus shifted away from gallery participation.  Happily, painting for eBay affords me unique interaction with buyers, as well as allowing me far more time to devote to painting !

My work is inspired by, early California plein air impressionists like Jean Mannhein, Mary DeNeale Morgan, and August Gay, as well as artists  Maxfield Parrish, Alphonse Mucha, and many, many others.

Though much of my work is done by 'traditional' methods using oil paint and a palette knife; I also enjoy exploring new techniques and materials, as in the watercolor on tissue paper technique, based on an ancient Zen meditation ritual that I have produced works in miniature to mural sizes.

I also enjoy using watercolor traditionally for botanical and floral work, fairies and fantasy themes, and landscapes.
