About Our Artist - Biography

  Lar as a creator on location.
 Our artist, Lar Shackelford is a former award winning Associated Press News videographer creating original fine art. He is currently hand painting both oil and acrylic paintings
on canvas, water colors, and abstract mixed media pieces. Lar also works with original photography, in 35 mm, digital, and professional medium format cameras.
Lar's photography is occasionally enhanced digitally slightly much like commercial art directors have done for years. Other works are completely "raw" un-retouched, printed directly from film or from digital camera shots. Lar also enjoys creating original computer digital art with digital tools such as digital pen and tablet, computer mouse, and or computer. Feel free to ask how ANY of Lar's art is created. Lar REALLY enjoys sharing about his creativity.
  Lar was an ACA Award Winner for His Original Photography in 2006 and 2007 and Nominated for his Paintings.
  Lar's Most Recent ACA Awards are for His Graphic Arts in Original Photography and His Digital Art.
Shackelford prefers to finish his pieces with techniques used by the world's finest photographic artists. His photography has excellent quality utilizing professional printing processes. Bear in mind elder photographers speak of a "print" in terms of a photograph. It is a term that refers to actual hard copy photo, a matter of generational vocabulary if you will. It stems from the times that photographers go in to a dark room and make a "print" from their negative and thus create a photo. It also refers to a "print" reproduced from a color negative done at a professional color laboratory on fine art or professional photographic paper.
The end result is art, entirely original having been shot by it's only creator, the photographer - artist. Elder photographers also consider "printing" the actual darkroom process of making the photograph as it passes through various chemicals. In a professional studio, a photographer might say, "I am making my prints", meaning he was going to embark on the process of actually creating a hard copy photograph. This should not be confused to art from printing presses or hand pressing in any way.
Lar Shackelford resides in Texas and
is a life long still photographer. He finds his
work behind the camera, be it video or still forms, has
helped him immensely in his love and application of other
creative art and for his latest variety of mixed media art
abstract paintings.

A natural talent, this videographer took a paint brush in hand about
fourteen years ago. Lar took off for realms beyond his wildest dreams. Shackelford continues to work with video of his own artistic creations as shown on YouTube. He is still widely known across the Southwest for his expert videos and shooting broadcast quality football. Be it brawn or blossom, Lar uses his creativity uniquely, each media shines upon it's own.
In that Lar creates in such a wide variety of
artistic media, you'll see his obvious versatility. What you won't see is a lot of boring repetition and limited themes in Lar's artistic offerings here on Ebay. Most of Lar's patrons enjoy checking in often as Shackelford's art is ever changing and evolving.
Lar is married with two grown children. His entire family enjoys their six pets, including a Golden Retriever, Austin and two Labrador Retrievers, Dallas and Bentley. Often, they serve as models for Shackelford's Retriever Dog Art pieces. Lar and his family also have a great love for their cats, two Siamese and a Persian-Mix. They are perfect playmates for their lovable Retrievers.
