What are Fonts and Dingbats?? One of the most frequent questions I'm asked pertains to fonts and how to use them.
Fonts are simply small graphics files your computer uses to provide you with a variety of typefaces to use in software programs. Your computer already had font files on it when you first bought it and there are a number of different computer formats for font files.
Dingbats are merely shapes "made into" font files and your computer treats them the same way as the letters you type on your keyboard.
Your computer makes font files available to software programs including "Sure Cuts A Lot". Specifically, they must first be registered in your computer's operating system. (DON'T worry, it is SUPER easy to install fonts on your computer) In other words, you can't just copy a font or dingbat file to your computer see it automatically be available to your software programs. You need to install them.
So, you need to “install” fonts and dingbats. This merely registers them so all of your software programs, including "Sure Cuts A Lot" can use them.
I've provided a step-by-step tutorial, including computer screen shots for Windows Vista and Windows XP.
