Established
in 1871 by Franz Detleff Goebel and his son William, W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik
has been creating fine porcelain tableware and decorative items for
more than 130 years. Through far-sighted planning, exploring new
and uncharted avenues, adopting unique methods and modernizing traditional
approaches, the company has continued to develop. Its leadership
has spanned six generations of the Goebel family.
Goebel, which is located in Rödental, Germany, is most famous for
producing M.I. Hummel® decorative
pieces, in particular handcrafted figurines. Inspired by the artwork of
Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel of the Convent of Siessen, these figurines
made their debut in 1935 – making Goebel a name recognized around
the world. Goebel has blazed ahead with many industry-wide management and
marketing traits, such as annual ceramic plate programs. Anticipating a
new trend of "relationship marketing", Goebel created the M.I.
Hummel® Club, which, today, has
over 270,000 members in more than 50 countries.
Throughout the years, Goebel has been recognized as a leader in maintaining
the highest quality of craftsmanship and artistic integrity in highly competitive
markets. With a keen sensibility for popular trends and the interests of
the collecting public, Goebel innovation and artistic excellence
have defined the international standard for giftware. As a result, alliances
with acclaimed artists and designers continue to yield unique and treasured
products.
Goebel of North America, is located in Pennington, NJ and distributes Goebel
esteemed collectibles and home décor pieces in the U.S. and Canada.
As the popularity of the Goebel brands grows rapidly worldwide, the company
will continue to produce high quality handcrafted tableware and decorative
items.
