House of WHAT?!
(think they're bitin' today?)
People often ask me, "Susan, what's the deal with this 'House of Unruly Fish' thing?" Well, it all started years ago at an auction (where else?). Among the many exciting and unusual items up for sale was a 6 foot long fiberglass model of a sailfish, which was particularly strange because our little town is at least 1,000 miles from the nearest ocean. When it was this fine specimen's turn to be bid on, I got involved, mainly to tease the other interested party. To my shock, he dropped out and left me hanging! So now I was the proud new owner of a fake fish taller than me! We managed to get the fine finny fellow home, and after getting poked by various extrusions various times, (I don't know about your house, but ours had few good giant fish stashing spots) gave in and hung him up (out of our harm's way) over the picture window. And there he stayed until our recent redecorating spree. Now he hangs over the entertainment center.
At the next week's auction, there was, coincidentally, a brass marlin, which we bought to keep the sailfish company. And soon after that, we acquired a home-taxidermied trout, and some large strange fish head platters, and...and one day we realized we had a fish collection! A collection that was getting out of hand! Or in other words, unruly fish!
Below is our best unruly fish (bought on eBay) so far!
This is a mounted pike Caro got for me at a local auction! Cool, huh?
